Everyday, the same day
Kuyucak Town, Aydin Province, Turkey
A fearless night, with lots of hopes and dreams, Nazli finally completes her work and goes to meet her friends who were impatiently waiting for her.
“How’s everything my little goats? Were you all missing me?” cheers Nazli to all the goats around her. All goats run towards her to greet her.
“Now it’s time for all of you to go to bed!”
Nazli takes all the goats to their loafing sheds which she made with her twin brother cousins; Ahmet and Murat. Nazli is one year older than Ahmet and Murat and three years younger than her sister cousin; Isra.
Looking at the beautiful stars in the sky and holding a torn picture of her mom, she wonders; “I always wonder if the beauty of these stars appear the same in cities also as the beauty appears in this village”
“Nazli! Nazli!“, her Aunt calls her from her back.
Nazli suddenly wipes her tears and gets up, “Yes, Aunt Naz”
“What are you doing here at this hour? Are you okay my little child”
“Aunt Naz, I was just wondering if these stars remain their beauty when seen from the city”
“My innocent Nazli, in cities, nobody has time to look up at the sky and see the beauty of these stars”
“Then they must be ungrateful” Nazli replied with a weird look.
“Yes, they are. Now let’s go inside, Isra has already prepared the dinner”
Aunt Naz and Nazli go inside and they all have dinner. After that everyone goes to sleep.
The next day, a postman arrives and gives Aunt Naz a letter.
“Nazli! Nazli!“, Aunt Naz calls Nazli who is in the backyard harvesting her walnuts.
“This is a letter for you,” Aunt Naz says.
Nazli wipes sweat from her forehead because of the hot sunny weather and asks, “From?”
Aunt Naz doesn’t reply but her face shows that whom this is from.
“Oh! So it is from baba! I already told you that I don’t want to talk to him anymore so please don’t give it to me”, Nazli replies and leaves her walnuts on the ground.
Aunt Naz runs after her and shouts, “Nazli, just give him at least one chance”
Nazli replies to her while running towards her house, “He destroyed my life and my mom’s. He betrayed her and he died for me the day he left me”
“Nazli! Nazli! This girl never listens to me”, Nazli goes and locks herself into her room. Aunt Naz takes a deep breath and Isra arrives after hearing her voice.
“Mama, what happened? Why are you calling Nazli?“, she asked.
“His father again sent a letter and she is angry about it”
“Oh! Now I see. Why doesn’t he stop sending her letters?”
“Isra, he is just worried for Nazli”
“If he would be worried then he wouldn’t have left her with you to take care of her when she was two years old”, Isra replied.
When Aunt Naz was about to leave, Nazli comes and takes the letter.
“I don’t understand this girl at all!” Aunt Naz says with a frustrated look.
Nazli rushes to her room with that letter in her hand and locks the door. She lights up the fireplace and burns that letter without even reading it.
“No! I will neither see nor hear anything from you. I HATE YOU!”
Nazli shouts as she sees the letter burning in the fire and the wall in front of her where her mother’s photo hanging.
Istanbul, Turkey
A bright day in Istanbul, a young man named Ozan; who loves to spend his dad’s money, who is arrogant and cold founds out that his father has ran away.
“Ma, ma” shouts Ozan as he enters his house.
“Why are you shouting brother?” says Zeynab, Ozan’s sister.
“Where is mama?”
“She is here, Ozan. But what happened?”
“Why are you two arguing?” Ozan’s mama comes in.
“I don’t know mama, ask him what’s the matter” says Zeynab.
“Mama, baba has left us. He abandoned us”
“What nonsense are you talking about Ozan?”
“The loss of our company is too much and baba couldn’t pay all the expenses and even the salaries of the workers. He ran away leaving us all behind” said Ozan.
“What? No, this can’t be no, no” Ozan’s mama passes out.
Ozan and Zeynab takes their mother; Ferzan Baytekin to hospital.
Kuyucak Town, Aydin Province, Turkey
Whole day passes and Nazli still stays in her room.
“Ahmet, go and call Nazli for dinner” says Aunt Naz.
“OK mama” says Ahmet and goes towards Nazli’s room.
Ahmet knocks the door and Nazli opens it.
“Yes, Ahmet”
“Mama is calling you for dinner”
“I am not hungry”
She walks back in her room and Ahmet follows her. Nazli sits on her bed and Ahmet looks at her.
“Nazli, what’s the matter?”
“Today, he sent me a letter once again”
“Who?”
Nazli gives Ahmet a strange look and Ahmet understands whom she is talking about.
“Oh! I see”
“If I could kill him, I would’ve done it a long time ago”
“Nazli, why dom’t you meet him once?”
“Meet him? I hate him and don’t even want to see him ever again and you’re saying about meeting him!”
“Listen sister, why don’t you give it a try!”
“That’s enough Ahmet! Leave now”
Ahmet leaves and Nazli again shuts the door. Nazli gets so much angry after hearing what Ahmet just said but after that she thinks for a second with a cold mind.
"If I can go and meet him, then why can't I go and take revenge! But I don't even know where he is in Turkey. Wait! Ahmet, he knows and I can ask him"
Nazli goes to Ahmet who is sitting alone on the rooftop.
"I'm sorry"
Ahmet turns his face back to see who it is.
"Nazli, what are you sorry for?"
"I told you to leave"
"Ah! No problem, now what are you up to?"
"My little brother, I thought about what you said"
"What did I say?"
"About baba, but I don't even know where he is!"
"Not a problem, he is in Istanbul"
"But where does he exactly lives?"
"That is what I don't know at all" says Ahmet. "But why are you asking his address? Do you want to meet him?"
"Ah! no, no. Just wanted to ask. But the letter, it may have the address, right?"
"Ya, but mama always throws it away"
"Right, ok I'm sleepy. Good Night Ahmet"
"Good Night Nazli"
Nazli goes back to her room feeling a loser.
"I can't leave him, I will take revenge from him no matter what it costs. What he did with my mama and me, he will have to pay for it. I will go to Istanbul, I will go to Istanbul!"
