A luminescent moon surrounded by stars shined in the midnight sky over a town. Silence blanketed over the town as the inhabitants travelled to their dream worlds, all except one. Cora tossed and turned in her sleep trying to fall asleep but failed as all she could think about was tomorrow. Tomorrow – the day that marks her as an adult, the day she would stand among others like her. All of them awaiting the decision of the council which determines their fate. Fear clouded Cora’s mind as all the negative outcomes flashed through her mind.

She let out a deep sigh as she realised that she was not going to be getting any sleep tonight. Pulling the covers closer to her neck, she turned around to face her window and pulled her knees closer to her chest, trying to count the stars visible through the clear window. She could hear a clock ticking in the distance as hours passed and her eyesight blurred, and eyelids drooped slowly as she slipped into empty dreams.
