Summary

Abbi Kersting is just a typical teenage girl who has many huge dreams and goals to accomplish and feels the need to find a sense of belonging in this huge, intimidating world. She has much to give to the world but is not quite sure how to open up and express herself in a positive way. To Abbi, hiding behind those walls and keeping all of her feelings inside seems to be a lot safer thing to do. But when she starts to keep too much inside that it becomes unbearable, she decides it’s time to let someone know what she’s feeling. During Abbi’s last year in high school, she begins reaching out to some school staff members whom she’s learned to trust and confide in over the different amounts of time she knew each of them. When the staff try their hardest to assure Abbi that everything will be alright, as things continue getting worse and worse, she begins to have more and more doubt that her life will ever improve. Will Abbi figure out how to find her happiness and have faith in herself and all the people who try to help her or will she never learn to seek out those good things in life?

Introduction

Hello! My name is Abbi. I was adopted as a baby, from China, and brought to the United States, so I could live a much happier and better life. I am extremely grateful to be adopted and cared for in this country where citizens have freedom and the opportunity to go after what they want.

Despite these lucky fortunes, sometimes the world seems very intimidating, and it makes me feel out of place. Every person I’m acquainted with always uses the same two words to describe what I’m like: “shy and quiet.” Despite those personality traits, I am a typical teenager just like any other. I have big dreams, wishes, and goals in life. I have the urge to make huge accomplishments, and inspire people with my words, which I’ve been told are insightful.

This book, which takes place during my high school years, is full of individual stories that demonstrate who I am. This is the second chapter book I’ve ever wrote and only one of three books about my high school years. Most of the stories are true, and a few are based on dreams and my wild imagination. Some of the book might be made up or exaggerated a little bit, but the stories still show what kind of person I am and how my life changed over the four years for the better or worst. I hope you enjoy reading my story and that I can inspire you with these special memories, which are both happy and sad.
