In the ebb and flow of time, the echoes of a fractured past resonate across the vast expanse of the cosmos, weaving a tapestry that binds the destiny of humanity. January 9th 1024 AE (After Earth), marks a threshold—a millennium and two decades since Earth’s demise in 2042. From the ruins of that fateful catastrophe emerged a multitude of survivors, a resilient throng thrust onto the alien soil of Erdos in the 61 Cygni A System. Here, they kindled a fragile ember, endeavoring to resurrect human existence from the ashes. Yet, this newfound hope teetered on the precipice of oblivion, threatened by the lingering shadows of primal instincts. Humanity, in its fledgling rebirth, nearly succumbed to annihilation amidst cataclysmic conflicts. It was a valiant alliance of disparate heroes that salvaged civilization from the brink, paving the way for centuries of triumphs that birthed technological marvels, propelling humanity back among the stars.
Among these cosmic wonders lies Mercia, nestled within the 61 Cygni B star system, a celestial gem reminiscent of Earth in its essence. Despite Erdos nurturing life for a millennium, Mercia’s allure persists like a siren’s call, beckoning as the true cradle of humanity. Yet, even amid relative peace spanning centuries, the shadows of human nature cast a pall over this paradise. Larry Heidelberger, a visionary whose theories on Erdos’ influence sparked controversy, vanished along with his contentious paper, “The Erdos Condition, Human Evolution.” His disappearance sent ripples across Mercia, igniting debates about subtle evolutionary shifts in Erdos inhabitants due to the planet’s gravitational sway. While life flourished on Mercia’s four continents, the murmurs of Erdos bestowing an evolutionary edge brewed discontent among its colonists, particularly within the enigmatic order known as the Purified Blades.
These Blades, descendants of an ancient religious order formed 1 thousand years ago, venerating Astrid Bush and her ideals, saw Erdos’ diversity as chaos and Mercia as the promised order. Their clandestine agenda aimed to erase any perceived evolutionary trait among Erdos-born individuals, labeling it “Impurity” and collecting blood samples as macabre trophies. However, their zealotry turned chilling when they realized another evolved being lingered on Erdos. As the Purified Blades maneuvered to assert dominion over both worlds, their quest for genetic supremacy ignited a covert war spanning centuries. Erdos, fostering colonies on moons Castor and Pollux, and Mercia, boasting Titania, Oberon, and Vasir as bastions of civilization, stood as the battlegrounds. The Confederacy governed Mercia, its shadowy arm—the Purified Blades—plotting in the dark, envisioning a divine return under Astrid’s guidance. When she was cloned by Mercia a thousand years after her death, instead of thanking her saviors for bringing her back to help lead their people, she cursed at them. Now being brought into foreign landscape, and timeline that she did not understand, she sought escape, and lucky for her, the one person who could save her, was the descendant of her killer.
Meanwhile, amidst the tranquility of Pitt Novus on Erdos, a prodigious young mind, Alysia, emerged—a beacon of intellect and unrivaled physical prowess. Her existence became a thorn in Mercia’s side, setting in motion a chain reaction that plunged both worlds into chaos. As Mercian agents wrought havoc, dismantling Erdos’ orbital infrastructure, a courageous few led by Lorenzo Caruso, Victor Zrille, and President Lu’an Gurung stood firm, willing to give their lives to quell the storm. Amidst the smoldering embers of conflict, interim President Fiona Glenn and Vice President Katya Drunski sought to guide Erdos toward stability and honor the memory of those who died. Alysia, leading the Erdian Fleet, charted a daring course toward Mercia, confronting the tyrant Kolya and ending the Mercian War. But even after Kolya’s demise, unanswered questions lingered, casting shadows upon the uncertain future of Erdos. Especially with Mercians now homeless and drifting across the vastness of the Expanse.
Will Erdos find solace now that Mercia is pacified? Will Cameron Hendrickson’s enigmatic technology bring security or sow the seeds of another civil war? Many religious factions view his innovations as harbingers of the world’s end. Alysia finds herself torn between loyalty to Erdos and her friends, who have already begun to take sides in the brewing storm. The destiny of humanity hangs in the balance once more, entwined with the legacy of Perdition’s Reach, Gemini Rising, Within The Dragon’s Grasp, and Aeon Ascension—a saga spanning epochs, where the choices of a few ripple across the cosmos, shaping the fate of worlds and the essence of humanity itself.
