Chapter 1 Wake up

He opened his eyelids to the repetitive beeping of an alarm clock which was sitting on his bedside table. It read 5:30, time to get ready for work. He always got up at 5:30 to give him just enough time to make his daily commute, as did everyone else in the city. Work always began at 7:00 and finished at 9:00 every single day. He slammed his hand down upon the large button on top of the alarm, with that the rhythmic beeping ceased.

Slowly he peeled open the sheets of the bed and got up. He opened His curtains revealing the sprawling city which lay before him. Each building he saw was identical to the next, appearing to be clones of one another. This was true in every circumstance except for one cloud piecing tower at the city's very centre. This was were he would be working today and everyday for the rest of his life.

He then turned swiftly away from the window, focusing his attention on the room before him. Every visible surface was coloured in a matte white hue. This made the room have an eriery yet claiming effect. He then lethargicly paced towards one of the walls of the room, he glared intensely at the surface. "Open" he exclaimed in a calm voice. With that the wall split apart to reveal what appeared to be a normal wardrobe, however each item of clothing in the space was perfectly identical to the next.

The clothing in the wall cavity consisted of white jump suits. On the back of each suit was an ID code reading 6752. Each member of the city each had their own ID code This, according to the government, allowed them to easily keep track of the 1,200,000 citizens. The only people who didn't have ID codes where powerful or important government members as having a name supposedly showed their superiority.

6:15 is time for breakfast, he sat at his matte white dining table alone. "Food" he exclaimed, and with this another hole opened in the wall next to his table. A bowl of food emerged from the wall cavity. The city used technology to its advantage, each living area was equipped with a personal hologram and the latest Arcane Industries A.I tech making living easier and allowing citizens to focus on there vital work.

6:30 is time to leave for work. He walked out of his apartment, the automated door locking behind him with a click. He then stumbled down the perfectly kept stairwell to the apartment buildings lobby. This area was filled with all the others in the tower, each filing down from their rooms above, all heading to work.

As he got to the bottom of the stairs he entered the queue to the exit. The door of the tower block was made from glass, the rising, red sun beamed into the lobby showering the residents in its light. The queue of people disapated quickly as each left the space, onto the cold streets of the city.

Outside the air was bitter and damp, crystal ice lined the streets. 6752 paced slowly towards his transport vehicle, these were supposedly know in the past as cars or automobiles. The vehicle itself was also white in colour. He tapped the door with his thumb.

"ID Correct" said a robotic female voice "Door opening". The vehicle's gull wing door opened up into the air and he carefully climed inside. Each other resident had a vehicle, they lined the bland sidewalks of the city.
