Waking Up

There was nothing but the silent sound of chirping grasshoppers. With each step I took, I could hear trumpets and car crashes. One extreme step after another, I felt like a walking disaster. I knew I had to escape from that room but how could I without making a sound? There were boxes and fragments everywhere that making myself inaudible was poor. With no recollection of how I landed in such a disastrous place, I knew that something faulty would transpire.

I never saw the man's facial counterparts but I knew he was dangerous. A silent killer in the making. Being a small frame of only 120 pounds there was no way I could fight him off. I lacked the upper body strength and my ninja skills were zero. I was doomed from the beginning. Which is probably the reason why I am sitting on this filthy, stained mattress in the middle of some hobo’s bedroom. Still, I expressed the desirability to get out. There had to be a stealth like way to get out undetected, but what was it?

My head pounded as I gathered myself off the mattress and towards the door, which was locked. My abdomen had an incision with red vital fluid dripping down my side. I had been impaled by a sharp object that sliced my flesh like an animal. I held my side as I surveillanced the room for another way out.

There was a small window behind a bookshelf. With my small size I most likely would fit, but how without making a single drop of noise? The bookshelf was far too heavy to move on my own, but I had to try. It scratched across the floor with a screeching, car wreck sound. He definitely would have heard it. I sat quietly in the corner, waiting for the door to open and see this silent killer in the flesh. Stillness filled the air. There was not one echo in the entire place.

I assembled the courage to try again, this time gaining some ground. I managed to shift the bookshelf enough to open the window. All I needed now was some kind of ladder or step to reach the window. Looking around one more time, I found some sturdy boxes that I could stack up. Placing them under the window, I managed to pull myself out.

The emotions to get myself through this ordeal were greatly exhausted as I felt a tug at my feet. Soon I found myself being pulled back through the window and slammed onto the ground. A vision of black bounded the room seeing that my head was hit hard on the concrete flooring. The fuzzyness blurred out the mans face and I could only make out shadows. The ringing in my ears muffled the voices that bounced off the walls. I soon fell unconscious.

When I woke again, this time I found myself bounded to a table. The room was white aside from the rust that trickled down the walls. I told myself it was rust, but some part of me wasn’t convinced. I began to scream for help but no sound was produced. My neck felt like it was in some kind of fiery agony.

Not only was I restrained to the table, my vocal cords had been ripped out. Removed from my body as my eyes fluttered past a jar filled with some kind of liquid and my oral tissues floating inside. Tears puddled in my eyes as I lie there helpless. Streaming down the shapes of my cheeks and rolling off my chin, I was soundless. Not a single word would ever be produced from my mouth again. I didn’t know what was worse, the fact that I will spend my last few hours strapped to some deranged psychopaths playground or that the expression of my sound will never travel through this world again.

Without proper introduction, the door swung open. With the silent killer standing in the frame, I tried to break free. He darted swiftly to my side, kneeled down to my ear and whispered:

“No one will want a muted girl. I have made you soundless and intend on keeping you that way. You’re desire for help will not come. No one will hear your pleas.”

My hours were numbered as he left the room, locking the door behind him.

mmslanker: Bound to kill was a fun read.
