Chapter 1

The first class of the day, plain white walls all around me and a round clock showed that a good part of the hour had passed.Hopefully the class would end on time. Darella someone says my name. I almost jump when Mrs.Wilson spoke sharply from right behind me ′answer this question , Who invented the automobile ? I stood there not even knowing which class this was.Paying attention was something I found especially hard.′The automobile was invented...by a inventor ? I try to joke but judging by the way the rest of the class glared at me , I was not as funny as I thought. Clearly, joking isn’t something I am good at. I thought that I did a good job of dodging the question but clearly not since I am currently staring at a frustrated Mrs.Wilson. I’ll get to the point immediately. You, Miss Darella are failing my class well almost failing.I know you can do better than this she shoves a familiar test with red marks all over it. I know very well that you are not putting all your effort in it, Your grades are your future and i know that- I zone out barely a minute in. I am pretty sure that this room used to have a window maybe I can jump. I look at the open window .I knew it. DARELLA Mrs.Wilson suddenly shouts looking tired. I don’t think she understood how much she was scaring me. The open window suddenly looks inviting.

Mrs.Wilson stands up, slamming her hands roughly on her table and I can tell she is about to start lecturing me again. But the door suddenly opens interrupting her. A short girl is about to walk in but stops after seeing me in the room.

Sorry , Wilson didn’t realize you had a student in she salutes, tosses a book on the table and turns to leave. Mrs. Wilson says Wait.. and trails off , her blue eyes looking from me to the girl rapidly.

Looking the girl up and down, I realize something. She was a junior a year or two younger than me , her ID had ‘June summers’ written on it. Realizing the irony I laugh. It was just too funny. June summers.

Mrs. Wilson turns around to see me laughing hysterically at the girl. I guess something about that made her mad Miss Darella is there something particularly funny here ? I realise that you aren’t bright but please try to behave yourself

HEY I am not stupid.....just confused I defend myself it was so obvious that I was not stupid. How did she come to that conclusion ?

Confused ? her eyes sparkled evilly. I back up a step or two just in case. You never know after all better safe than sorry.

I see so you’re confused. Well a tutor like June can solve that problem Mrs. Wilson smiles sweetly as if she didn’t just do something that could possibly ruin my day. I must have looked miserable because Mrs.Wilson looked very pleased with herself.

Desperate I look at June and plead with my eyes for her to reject the offer. I couldn’t have a tutor years younger than me. That couldn’t happen. As if to mock me, June agrees while making eye contact with me.

Without looking up, Mrs. Wilson tells us both to leave. Numbly, I walk out. The ‘June’ girl heads in the direction of my next class. Gym was next, if I skipped my parents would definitely receive a call.

And yet I walked in the opposite direction just to avoid June. I never did find out which class Mrs. Wilson taught. Maybe English or Math. I continue to walk.

Until a hand stops me, I try to shove it off me. It stubbornly stays there. Is there a reason you’re heading right to the Boy’s washroom instead of class ? a amused voice asks.
