Prologue
Linh paced the floors nervously. The King needs to get better! He should be healthy by now! What will we do without him?
"You, are you a maid here?" The Royal Physician asked demandingly. He gently closed the King's door behind him and walked over to the maid.
"How is the King?" Linh asked nervously bitting her nail. As the Queens Lady-in-waiting, it was her duty to protect the Queen from any harm, yet here she was, unable to do anything.
"The King will live for now, although his pulse does shows signs of a slow heartbeat. I suspect it is Blackjay Poison but I cannot be rash and quickly come to these decisions."
"So will the King be okay? What is this Blackjay Poison?" Linh asked nervously.
"It is a poison that will start from the feet, making the owner of the poison unable to use their legs. Then, it will move to the lungs, which will make it harder to breathe. After that, it will reach the brain and mess around with your thinking process. We can slow down the poisoning but it won't last long, maybe a week at best." The Royal Physician said, rubbing his forehead.
Linh covered her mouth. "A week at best?"
"Maybe 1 week or over?"
"But-but the Queen will be devastated!" Linh shouted. She ran to the King's door.
"Silence!" The Royal Physician shouted. He quickly notched down his voice. "The King and Queen need the rest. You must be foolish to go in! Next thing we know the Poison will spread!"
"But I am the Queen's Lady-in-waiting! It is my duty to protect her and help her when she is sick!"
"Enough, get back here, and get me warm water in a bowl with a towel."
"B-but..."
"Now." The Royal Physician said sternly.
"Yes sir," Linh said with a bow.
"Now," The Royal Physician said, heading back into the King's room. "Shall we continue?"
The door slammed behind him as glass shattered and screams filled the air...
