Chapter 1

If someone had told me last week I'd be staying in a roadside motel in Perth, I'd have laughed at them.

I step out the shower in my towel, looking around the room in disbelief.

Yet here I am, hot, clammy, ready for anything.
I get dress in my lacy purple undergarments, I'm just starting to get my lotion when ...
the door to my room clicks open.
"Oh".
My heart pounding I swing around, a man stands in the doorway when he steps forward the morning sun, lights up his chiseled face. An enormous Bernese Mountain Dog pants at his feet, it’s pink tongue hanging out.

I have no idea what is going on, Why was this guy barging in my room.

"Woof”, the dog barks.

The dog is black and brown and fluffy and it squints at me wagging its tail.

"Can we help you?", the man asks confused.
My heart is pounding and my thoughts are racing at this beautiful guy in front of me.
He has golden tousled hair and a tanned chiseled body, and I can see how toned his biceps are as he lifts a hand to run it through his golden locks.
"What are you doing in my room?", I ask perplexed my arms crossed over my chest.
An amused smirk crosses over the man's face, and for a minute I'm momentarily stunned.
Shit. What the fuck? Who did he think he was?
"Sorry, mam. But I was going to ask you the same thing?", he chuckles.
The strangers voice is deep and smooth, it sends shivers of delight up my spine.
He reaches down to rub the furry mane of the dog and the dog whines in delight.
"This is my bedroom", I growl.
Get. Out I think my mind tumbling in embarrassment. Here I was standing in my lacy purple thongs and a beautiful guy right in front of me.

"These past three nights I spent in the bed would beg to differ".
I scowl "My room key begs to differ", I go to the wooden oak bedside table and snatch up the silver key showing him.
The man's face is confused then he smiles "wow maybe I am in the wrong room".
He laughs and glances away I look at him with a smile.
Now get out you stupid cute guy I thought to myself.

Now get out I think you stupid cute guy, I didn’t expect to have a guy walk into my room this wasn’t how I had planed my day.
"I'll let you get changed".
The man bends down to pat the dogs head to try and give me some space.
I stand there, hands on my hips, the look of surprise on his face is golden.
"This is my room I can dress how I want too", I say pissed off. - not about how she dresses but the fact she is naked.
A slow smile crosses his stupid handsome face and I am annoyed at the flutter in my heart.
"Daring!”, all right then", he exclaims amused.
When the man starts to unbutton his own blue flannel shirt my mouth falls open.
What did he think he was doing? This was so inappropriate!
Yet again I liked it, I flushed at the thought. I was here for business nothing else.
"What are you doing?", I say shocked.
I fiddle with my fingers my face flushed, I couldn’t help but stare as every inch of that golden toned abs was revealed.
"Trying to keep myself sane". He takes his time flicking each button open slowly, when he reaches the bed, he shrugs the shirt off his broad golden shoulders and hands it to me.
"If you need it!", he says with an arrogant smirk showing the flash of his perfect white teeth.
"Now we're even. You get to see me topless too".
For a moment I take in his toned biceps, and taut stomach. When he smirks, I clear my throat.
"So your literally the kind of guy to give a girl the shirt of his back?".
I don’t know what to think this guy actually gives me his shirt.
"I guess I am if she needs it".
I pull the soft cotton over my arms trying not to dwell on how nice it feels how warm and cozy it is. The smell is nice too. It smells like musky cologne.
"Well I'll get it back to you".
The man shrugs. The dog nuzzles against his knee and he smiles.
"Don't worry about it".
There is an awkward silence in the room I hate awkward silences, they make my heart rush and my mind race thinking into what to say or what they would think of me if I said somthing they thought was weird. I usually avoided conversations because of this, I wasn’t a social girl, not like my friend Emily.
"So....", I say trying to fill it, thinking hard on what to say.
I don’t wanna sound stupid I think. God.
"I'm Jacob"
"Just Jacob?", I ask.
I flush hot at this sentence, I hope he doesn’t see me blushing or notice my sweaty hands.
He holds my gaze for a while before smiling "Jacob Caurpso. And you".
I grin nervously, "Teresa smith".
There is an silence before "Smith. Really?".
I scowl "What's wrong with smith?".
"A name like smith it's the kind of alias that makes you seem like your running away from someone".
Jacobs blue eyes stare into my grey ones and I look away quickly. My heart fluttering in my chest, I try to keep my face a blank mask concealing my emotions just like Giergo had taught me.

I had always thought I was an open book, so I hoped he didn’t notice anything unusual.

"What's your secret?".
I have lots, secrets that I hurried in a grave long ago, I tried to escape my past, the secrets that haunted me in my dreams but I knew they always found me.
"Uh, I keep my secrets thanks", I laugh nervously.
He laughs "A woman of mystery, huh".
"More like the woman you just met, my secrets stay safe with me".
Jacob shrugs "All rights, that's fair".
"Maybe we should just figure out how we both ended up in this room".
He tilts his head as he talks. Shit is he going to...
But Jacob just smiles and gestures to his dog "Woof".
"This is Jessy ".
I smile as the dog bounds up to me wagging its tail.
"Nice to meet you Jessy", I say giggling.
I pet the dog his, fur is soft, warm and pillowy to the touch. I used to have a dog when I was a kid but she got run over.
I sigh, as I pat Jessy and Jacob looks at me smiling "And a dog person!"

I shrug my shoulders and continue to pat Jessy on her soft pillowy head.
“I used to have a dog but she died".
There is a silence before Jacob says "I'm sorry", his voice soft and sincere.
I didn't know why I just opened up to him but he was just so easy to talk too.
"I'm sorry, I don't know why I just said that", I say shaking my head feeling silly.

Jacob smiles "No No its fine. I don't mind".
I smile "Thank you! Well now we need to figure out whose room this actually is," i said seriously.
I walk over to the hotel phone picking it up. I glance over to Jacob. He's shaking his head, with an amused smirk on his face.

The dial tone rings, and the receptionist puts me on hold. As I wait Jacob kneels beside Jessy to straighten his collar. There's a deep bond between them, obvious by how the dog leans into his owners touch. Just like me and Rosy. My Rosy. I thought sadly.
When the receptionist returns, I have to drag my attention back to the phone.
"I'm in 108 oh that explains it thank you".
I hang up and smile at Jacob.
"They gave me the wrong room key. I'm next door".
"Well I'm glad I'm not loosing the plot", Jacob jokes.
"I have a feeling a lot of men would like to have a woman like you in their room".
The boldness of his words shock me, and a flutter of excitement runs up my spine again.
Don't think like that I remind myself he is your mission.
I start to collect my things, and Jacob opens the door for me. I head out into the hall.
"Hey Teresa".
I turn, and Jacob runs a hand through his brown tousled hair, his gaze warm on me.
"What would you say to dinner?"
My heart skips a beat and my skin heats up...
"I have plans", I say coldly crossing my arms.
"Those plans more important? Come on!".
Jacob pushes off the wall, and strides up to me.
"I'd like to make it up to you".
I shiver in excitement, it couldn't hurt could it?
"My plans are solid, I'm sorry".
Jacob knocks his knuckles against the door as he stares at me abashed.
"All right, I'll be next door if you change your mind".
His easy commanding voice makes me think about changing my mind, but I need to stay solid, not get too involved with him.
Jesus Sake
"Well, maybe I'll think about it".
Jacob smiles so happy and his eyes gleam "I'll take it".
I hear a door slam at the end of the hall, one of the men licks his lips when he spies me, he wolf calls out down the hallway.
His buddies follow around all looking at me, I scowl.
Jacob shakes his head and drops his voice so just I can hear it.
"Men! I'm so sorry".
I smile "Most of those types can dish it out. Say one nice thing about their sexy legs and they go running for it".
"No kidding. Any man who Harasses a woman must be pretty fucking stupid".
The men approach. The one who called out leans against me.
"What's your going rate sweetheart?"
A jolt of disgust runs through me at the sound of his slimy voice, Jessy stalks over, placing himself in between me and the men the fur on his back stands up.
"Grr".
At the same time, Jacob rests a gentle hand on my shoulder when he spoke. It was a cold tone.
"Hey buddy, I think you better leave and stop talking to my girlfriend".
Girlfriend? I think shocked.
Heat blooms on my cheeks but I stand tall and upright going with it.
The man looks up at Jacob in surprise they eye each other for a moment before they scowl.
"Come on now, sweet thing. Tell me you aren't actually dating this guy".
He looks at me with a slimy look and licks his lips.
"Tell me you'd rather have a real man like me".
"You think so?" Jacob asks the man.
Jacob glances down at me, comfort and warmth in his bright blue eyes.
"Tell him, Teresa", he speaks.
I look at the man directly in the eye, my gaze bold and defiant.
"Of course he's my boyfriend you dumbass".
The man looks so angry. I chuckle and he stumbles up towards me, fists clenched.
But will steps forward blocking him and holding the man down and he screams observes.
"You bitch", he screams.
My heart thumps but I look at him coldly before smiling.
"Get out of here before I knock you out".

How friends all laugh and I know there thinking a woman can't knock a man out.
But I walk up to the nearest laughing man and touch him in the weakest spot he screams and his face contorts in pain.
"Oh my god what have you done".
The men face pale before they run away like the scared bitches they are and the man on the ground stops struggling at looks at me wide eyed.

"I'm sorry".
I shrug "Let him go".
Jacob nods and the man scrambles off his buddy crying after him until it's just me and Jacob.
Jacob looks at me stunned, "Beautiful as well as lethal".

I blush and show the flash of my teeth "You better not mess with me".
Jacob laughs shaking his head and looking at me wide eyed "Oh I won't".

"Well I better go to my room Jessy will be wanting food".
I nod disappointed and watch as he turns to go to his room, southpaw hot on his heels and I call him out.
What about his shirt
"What about your shirt?".
I pull at the hem drawing his eyes to my stomach he smiles.
"You keep it".
"I can't".
"I insist".
His eyes slowly travel over the shirt before they reach to my breasts and I flush.
"It looks a whole lot better on you".
His smile is warm and genuine that it makes me smile
I want too.
"Thank you that's very sweet".
The soft flannel feels better on my skin that I'd care to imitate.
His fingernails graze mine sending shivers down my spine, I’m sure he could feel that too.
"You know I've never seen a woman in my clothes before", his husky voice whispers.
"Really I find that hard to believe".
Jacob smiles "Really do I come across as a playboy or something".
"Looking like that yeah you do".
Jacob smiles and shakes his head before he disappears in his room closing the hotel door with a faint click.
I return to my room standing with my back against the door, listening. When I hear Jacob retreat into his.
"Jacob is an impressive man".
I jump around at Harry’s voice heart racing, Harry steps forward his golden brown eyes hard and stern.
"But you won't let that distract you will you?".
I remember the suspicion that sparked in wills eyes and I shiver.
Jacob’s father was the most infamous mafia boss in Perth. He sent me here to bring Jacob back home I couldn't get distracted no I wouldn't fall for him. All along Jacob was right to suspect me but I have no choice.
Sad I look at Harry who gives me a wickedly sweet smile.
The mafia has my brother and if I don't follow through they will kill him
"Are you ready, Teresa?", his voice is dark and my heart pounds in my throat.
I take a steadying breath already doing my best to forget Jacob’s smile I had no choice this was right Jacob was nothing to me.
"Yes I'm ready".
I will catch the mafia prince I thought.
