Chapter 1: Let the Dreading Begin

She looked around but she found nothing. She was so alone that she couldn't see past the difficulties.

He was always there to hold her but she never realised. She always had someone to rely on even when she felt all alone.

Chapter One : Let the Dreading Begin

It was a usual morning, I followed the daily routine, got dressed up for the dreading to begin.

Before the first period as usual I indulged in gossip and catched up with on all the latest hot topics my friends. What a drag I thought to myself.

It was just a normal day, nothing special, until I saw him chatting and laughing with his mates. He was a pretty boy. His name is Joseph. He is pretty popular amongst the female population of this school. I could never care less about him, after all I had nothing to do with him anyway -- pretty or not.

But something was different about him today. I have noticed him many times just like my other classmates. I have a hobby of observing the human species around me. How peculiar I thought. He looked attractive today. That's the first time I have felt that way towards him. Not that there aren't other hormones raged pretty boys, hunks and jocks in this school but somehow -- he felt special.

It was probably the way he laughed or the way he ran his fingers through his hair? I was not sure, but he seemed different today.

Oh well whatever. He's just a boy.

All boys are the same.

What is so special about him anyways? He was just a handsome face, that's all that is to him. He's just as dumbass as the other boys in this school or like ANY boy.

Girls keep squealing about him, giggling and exchanging gossips, stealing glances, trying to sneakily get close to him. I wonder if he's even smart enough to notice that! He seems like the no brainer kind, the one with no brains. Heh.

Apparently he's the smartest and coolest boy in our class, given those genes of his. Thanks to his parents, he got really popular amongst the lonely damsels in distress, love struck with gooey eyes set on their "prince charming". The females with the raging hormones, after all this is the phase and season of love for young maidens.

I snicker, how stupid.

Whatever.

The day goes by and I ignore his presence like the unworthy existence he is and carry on with my day. During classes either I'm spaced out mostly or dreading it through the torturous lecture glancing at the clock frequently or feeling extremely drowsy, but somehow I manage to survive.

School's finally over, the labour work of teachers and their annoying students ends at last. Another boring, dull, dreadful day. At least for the next few hours I wouldn't have to watch clumsy losers who think they know shit blabber about their subjects trying to motivate us and trying to turn us into the next genius or mega mind.

I'm too sleepy. I think as I yawn and start walking to home. On my way down the stairs, at first I don't notice but someone comes rushing towards me and bumps hard into me by the time I realise another person's presence.

"Ooouch! Watch where you're going!", I shout as the person crashed into me and the impact pushes me hard against the wall, my bag falls off my shoulder onto the ground. I look up to face the perpetrator.

Ugh! It's him! Why does it have to be him? How annoying!

"Oops, I'm sorry!", Joseph flashes a smile whilst biting his tongue and pulling his ear as a sign of apology, he picks up, dusts off and hands me my backpack and rushes off ahead as he passes me.

My eyes widen a little in shock.

What the hell? That jerk! Oow it hurts!

I whimper in pain as my shoulder joint aches and the other one which crashes into the wall aches too. He's such a jerk! I curse under my breath. Ugh!

But little did I know then, that this was just the beginning of an awful and annoying something.

After I went back home, I slammed the door to my room shut and went straight to take a nap. I was so tired and exhausted.

I bet they will be late again today.

After I woke up I went straight to the kitchen to grab something to eat. I notice a note stuck on the fridge with a fridge magnet after I switch on the lights and sigh.

I knew it.

The note read:

Sorry honey, we will be late again today. We have a lot of work today too. My co-workers are off on holidays so the work pressure is heavier than normal.

Don't forget to eat your dinner! It's in the fridge, heat it up!

Yeah, right. I run my fingers through my hair. As if you really care.

I grab a can of coke and some snacks and head to the living room to watch some TV before I do my homework.

After 2 hours I grab my backpack to pull out my notebook. As I flip through the pages I notice something. It's a folded piece of paper inside my notebook.

Did I keep this here and forgot about it? But it surely doesn't look familiar. I don't think it's mine. I assess as I examine the piece of paper. There's something written inside it. I unfold it to read it.

Dear Millie,

How are you?

I hope you're doing well although I see you upset everyday.

No matter what, don't forget that there are people who admire you.

I hope you have a nice day.

Your secret admirer

AS.

What?

What was that just now?! Who the hell wrote this? AS? Who?

Do I know someone by that name? Is it a prank my friends pulled??

Gosh! And what is this? I see you upset everyday?

Huh? Seriously? Don't act like you know me!

For the rest of the night I kept pondering who it could be. The note had sent a wave of butterflies in my stomach, making me feel uneasy. I kept wondering who it could be, while I did my before, ate dinner and even before I went to bed.
