Chapter 1
THE CAMP FIRE
We were sitting around the camp fire laughing ,eating , drinking & cooking . The camping place we had decided was a isolate place where hardly any human would like to go but , firstly I want to tell my viewers that it wasn’t my idea . It was situated near some hills I don’t want to disclose , we had planned our camp for 3 days straight . we would go trekking , enjoy our sunrise with some hot coffee in our hand as there was cold at that time & watching the sunsets with my friends. Now night began to fall it was our last night to stay & next day we would go home but somebody wasn’t ready for that , as we were sleeping in out camps I heard some voice similar to my friend “Cara” . I turned my head to see the time it was 2:30 & I was thinking what in the world she was doing outside in that much cold , so I thought maybe she is just fooling around & didn’t pay much attention to it . Again my sleep was broken but not by a voice this time , there was some shadow outside the camp hovering . I could tell it was not Cara , the shadow was not like human & it was huge, for a minute there I was froze I wanted to lift the camp sheet to see who’s that but something in me wasn’t allowing it . I calmed myself thinking it would be a tree shadow hovering because of the wind but somewhere in my mind it wasn’t ready to accept it . So I took a deep breath & turned toward my camp mate who was just beside me . His name was Justin a Graduate boy with a bright future.
“Hey man!!” I said he was still asleep after my so many attempts so I thought it would be a shameful thing to wake him up & tell him that I saw something. I would be a joke to him if I tell him, as I was thinking about that suddenly I heard Cara voice: “Hey dude come outside I wanna show something . Somewhat I was relieved that she was the one who was outside . But the next question came to my mind was what she want’s to show to me & in this hour. I replied “yeah !! but I will see it in the morning “. She didn’t replied anything. It was so silent outside that I could hear the wind clearly.
Cara replied: “we won’t be here for too long in the morning !!. It won’t take too long we will return here soon. Let’s go she emphasis!!
So I replied” OK! but we won’t stay outside for too long.
I got up from camp & went outside what I saw really relieved my mind!!
“ohh !! here you are” : Cara said
We both smiled toward each other & I started following her . It was so mist I could barely see what’s ahead of me .
I asked : Cara what are you going to show me & how you know about this because we haven’t explored it .
She was still walking silently looking straight forward as she has been living here since long time . It was now 20 mins we had been walking in the cold not knowing what she was going to show me. She suddenly started singing some song in low voice, mumering but the strange thing was that she does not have a musical voice. I don’t know why but my heart began to pound, I could fell my sweat on my forehead on that windy night. Now 30 mins were passed we haven’t reached our destination I was somewhat angry & decided not to any further I gathered my courage & shouted hey! Cara, you told me the was not far from our camp what’s the big deal ahh!! .Finally she stopped walking & her song. In a deserted place I was standing with someone who call herself Cara. Now my mind began to send me threat signals again. I thought to myself what if I had made a mistake by coming here. Let’s face it I said to myself. As I was preparing myself she turned back, when I saw her I knew she wasn’t Cara for sure now, a large creepy smile across the face , her eyes were totally black , so black that night was even seen brighter than that. She was still standing there with that smile & looking at me continuously like a predator. I knew I was gonna die here because my body stiffed there, not because of cold but because of the creature I was seeing in front of me. My mind began to remind me the time when I was going to wake up Justin . I wish I had woken him up. But now was a Do or Die situation , I had made up my mind that my life can’t be given too easy .So for the last time I inhale the deep breath & without giving any other thought ran in the opposite direction without looking back. I was running deep & deep into the forest at some point I finally stopped. I was having difficulty in breathing as it was a cold night but again I started walking slowly straight in the direction where we had come from but now It was seeing impossible my feet began to feel numb just then I heard that song just near my right ear ,I knew she was here but the fact was I just don’t want to believe it. I turned back & seeing her face this closely made me unconscious which I don’t want to . Next day when I woke up I was in a hospital, surrounding by family members & my friend’s family. What made me curious was that I haven’t seen my friends there so I thought they would be coming in just a minute, by that time when I was thinking about them, Justin mother ran towards me crying . I was so relieved that everyone is concern about me but the twist was that when she asked where Justin is ?he was nowhere to be found. I was soo shocked that I became unconscious again & when I woke up I found two officer beside me sitting , there face was all pale . I asked “what happened officer ?”
He told me about what happened to Justin & Cara .
He told : “There bodies were found 30 mins straight in the wood in a very bad state . I think some wild bear killed them or .... ( he paused)
I asked in anguish : or ? tell me !! . I asserted.
The officer told that there is believe that there is a witch living in that mountain who not only devour human but can also take other human faces .
When I listened to them I got goosebumps. I asked to me that means that night the girl I saw who just look like Cara was that witch!!! .
Officer interrupted my thoughts & said you were just lucky boy that the drone captured your heatwaves & just a advice from elders don’t ever go to that hill if you wanna stay alive .
