"I'm not usually a short story person, but this got me right from the start! Very well written, clear, distinct characters, and plenty of tension/horror, but not gratuitous or overdone. The addition of vampires in this story was a very cool, unique twist on the concept, and even though vampires are something we've seen before, this felt fresh and different. Overall, very well done! Noteworthy, more modern, vampire story.
"The Penance by Teresa LeBrocq A creative and versatile, non-linear, short story featuring a vampire protagonist in a church. The story is a bit larger, and the author is pretty good at making the character be understandable to most of the readership, I guess. Surprises work without violating the story flow. So does atmosphere building. Suspense. Format and grammar had no dire fallout, of which I could be aware. Only weak spot: While everything else gets some info on it, being a vampire comes like a `pop-up´ notification. `Them fanged crypt elves just happen to hang around..?´"
