Chapter 1
FRIENDS
The two 8-year-olds were busy supporting the other while another stood on the wooden log and tried walking without landing on their face.
“Elle, we are friends for life...right?We will never let go of each other like this, right?” Asked the young girl wearing a red dress.
"Promise, when things get tougher we will hold tighter. Also, we will never hide anything.” Said the other girl while setting her fluttering locks.
10 Years Later, Age 18...
It was the start of the new school year and the corridor was bustling with students. Everyone was excited about the new year. Everyone wanted to have an impactful first impression. The day was unusually sunny casting dark shadows on the birds flying against the pale blue sky. Their wings hugged the air as they flew boundless distances.
However, there was this girl who was sitting beside her window seat not bothered about others wondering how life would be if she was free like those birds. But, her daydream was soon broken as the homeroom teacher appeared.
“Goodmorning everyone, my name is Ruby Cha. This year I will be your homeroom and English teacher. I hope you all will be obedient and take your studies seriously. So, since you all have to spend a year with each other how about you introduce yourselves.” Suggested the grey-eyed teacher.
“Let’s start from the girl sitting beside the windows.”
“Hello my name is Lee Elissa, a lot of you know me since I have been studying for 5 years in this school. Please treat me well and let’s spend a great year ahead.” Said the brunette doe-eyed girl.
“Hi my name is Adaaya Williams, and... I will treat you well so I expect the same. Thank me.” said the charcoal color-eyed girl, her eyes and voice ice cold. Her introduction was followed by whispers.
As the introduction continued the brunette girl whispered. “Hey, why are you being so cold? Ada start opening, stop being so stoic” asked Elissa.
“Others show their true self when you show them your cold side.” answered Adaaya.
“Stop this, and what is thank me? Thank you for announcing it so coldly as if you were ready to take up a fight.” Elle huffed angrily.
“As if I care,” she replied annoyed by her friends’ effort.
“This is for you.” the girl timidly slid a paper bag onto her friend’s table who was saddened.
The brunette girl opened her friend’s gift and it was nothing but the oil paints she has wanted for the longest time, but she knew her friend didn’t get them for free. The paints had a hefty price tag to the point she couldn’t ask her grandma for them. Ada must have again got out of her way to get her friend these.
“What did you do this time?” Elle asked curiously.
“Worked hard, now don’t disturb me.” her friend replied sheepishly.
As the girls settled their arguments a new presence near the teacher panting caught their attention. “Go-good morning teacher, sorry I am a new student and lost my way.”
“It’s okay. Please introduce yourself.”
“Hello, I am a new student. Please take good care of me and I must say the school is quite big.” He said after he finally caught his breath.
“Wait, do you realize that you didn’t say your name.” Informed a random student.
“Ohh-well I am Hwan Saraf.” Said the tall guy chuckling whose dimples showed when he smiled at a certain angle.
