Chapter 1
ADMISSION
I rubbed my eyes as sleep crept in slowly; my body screamed with stress and my brain seemed to register weariness. I wished Daddy had disclosed to me the location where he was driving us to. This whole secret location stuff is making me anxious and weary. I finally succumbed to the power of sleep and dozed off for a while.
'Wake up, Chika. We have reached our destination I heard a voice say to me.
I stretched my body and opened my eyes; to be my surprise we were at the most dreaded place. I have heard about this place and I never thought for once in my life that I will be here.
'Welcome to SIMA University. ' The security at the gate greeted us. I walked with wooden legs into the school compound, I saw students walking in groups; some chatting, some sitting under a gazebo, some in a building staring at us. I moved closer to my sister and I felt so tiny and scared.
We were directed to the Admissions Office, where we met the receptionist who welcomed us with a warm smile. She directed us to a seat and gave us a form to fill out. We waited a few minutes before we were asked to go to the Admissions Officer's Office.
'Welcome, sir. You are welcome to SIMA University' He said to us. The man also smiled at us warmly. 'Well, maybe smiling is their strategy for getting students admitted into their schools'. I thought to myself.
' We have checked the documents you submitted, Sir. The results are good but your daughter will write a test to check if she is qualified to get admitted into our school' The admissions officer said.
' Alright. Is she going to write the test now? ' Daddy asked him
'Yes, she is. In fact, Miss Kams will take her to the test hall to write the test. It is a 30 minutes test and after the test, she will come back to the office for a review of the test ' The admissions officer said.
Daddy nodded in understanding, Miss Kams came and took me to the hall where I sat down and wrote wrong answers so as not to get admitted.
After the test, I submitted my test script and waited for my fate to be decided.
' Congratulations, you have been admitted. Though you failed so many questions, we see potential in you and we know you will adapt and graduate with honors' The admissions officer said to me, I almost broke down in tears. My plan not to be admitted into SIMA just crumbled before my eyes. I looked at my father, he looked pleased and I just could not hide it anymore; I allowed the tears to flow down my cheeks. Well, let's see what SIMA has in store for me.
