First Sight
Things are starting to get good when my mom died. I mean, my dad is rarely home because he has to work twice the hard.
And then, there’s my maid, her name’s Kelly. She’s like my own mother, but she could never replace her. Kelly’s different, other than my mom. She’s also like a sister to me.
My life used to be hard, but I feel fine now. No problems so far, and no more pain in the neck like it used to.
Right now, the school was just a step closer to college. Well, at least my sister won’t be the only one who will be free.
“Cather!”
I snapped my head towards the board and the teacher is looking at me with a questioning look, “Yes?” I asked.
“You do realize that everyone is out of this class, right?” He said.
I sigh and closed my eyes before I can feel that my cheeks turn red, “Sorry, I’ll go. Thanks, Mr. Bailey,” I said before walking out of the class.
I sigh and walk over to my locker, only being greeted by Harley, the peep girl in the school.
She has blonde hair, her looks always win the guy, never talk shits about anyone, tight shirt and mini-skirt with heels to complete her looks.
She’s not a slut, but everybody’s crushing on her. She’s almost like the real version of a Barbie doll.
“Hey, Cather, I’ve been waiting for over fifteen minutes,” she said.
I shrugged, “Sorry, I was daydreaming, Mr. Bailey’s class was out five minutes before I got out,” I explained.
She rolled her eyes and keep walking with me to the cafeteria, “You know, Cather, there are lots of guys out there who wants to be with you. Why don’t you take a shot?” She asked while taking the salad and the water bottle on her tray.
“I don’t know, I feel like. . . I know there’s a guy out there who wants to be with me, somewhere but I don’t know when will he come around,” I mumbled.
She rolled her eyes, “Cather, I swear, you will find a cute guy. But, this is high school, where all the magic happens. I know you’re not ready,” she said while taking a bite of her salad.
I shrugged and bit my fork before my eyes landed on a tall guy, leaning on the wall.
His eyes are dark, so does his hair, his shoulder are broad, and I can see that muscles and tattoos under his thin, white T-shirt.
I look over back to Harley who is already staring at me before she turned around and look to where I was staring.
Her head snapped back towards me and her eyes widen, “No, not that one,” she warned.
“What?” I asked.
“You want a guy, but not that one. He’s dangerous from the looks of him. And don’t you dare talk back to me about him,” she explained.
“I won’t. That guy wasn’t anything like what I dreamt of, anyway,” I mumbled.
But then she just nodded and she ate her food quietly. I don’t know what’s keeping me paranoid, but I think I just saw him staring at me.
When I got home, I sat down on the sofa and just think of that guy. I know Harley warned me to not to be with him.
But I just couldn’t help but feel very curious about him. He made me want to know who is he.
I bit my lips before walking towards my room and I locked the door behind me.
When I hopped down to my bed, I couldn’t help but feel the same thing as when I was in the cafeteria. Paranoid.
I look up to the ceiling and sat up slowly before turning my head to the window.
I look up to the sky and just thought of my parents and anyone out there that cared for me. Just for once.
I sigh and snapped out of my thought when I heard a knock on my door. It opened and there stood Kelly with a tray.
She smiled at me and I smiled back, “You didn’t have to do that,” I said.
“I wanted to. Besides, I miss cooking for you when you were little,” she chuckled and enter my room.
When she put the tray down, I took the chocolate chip cookie and sip it into the milk before I ate it.
Kelly did the same and we talked more and more about school, which surprisingly amazing and turned out fine.
“So, anyone special?” She asked.
I chuckled and shook my head, “No, no one in mind,” I said.
“Oh, that wasn’t the answer I was expecting,” she said.
“Well, you got that answer. I don’t have anyone special. Besides, if that person thinks I’m special, I probably knew that already. But, you know. . .” I mumbled the last part.
She nodded, “Your father forbid you,” she said.
“Because of my grades. It’s stupid,” I mumbled.
“You’ll find one, I promise you that. Now, go change and prepare for bed, good night,” she smiled and stood up.
I smiled back and nod my head before heading to the bathroom and Kelly left the room.
I strip off from my clothes and let the cold water ran over my body, relaxing me with every bit of drop of it.
When I was finished, I dried myself and dressed in a pair of leggings and a large T-shirt for bed.
I got out of the bathroom and hop onto my bed before checking my phone, I got a text from Harley, saying that I should come with her to a party.
I texted her that I don’t want to come because I had a rough day, and she said that it was okay.
Honestly, I feel Harley’s more to my master rather than my friend. But she’s all I got, and she always remembers me.
I sigh and locked my phone before I pull my duvet over my body and closed my eyes, try not to think of anything else in my head.
