Revenge of the Hawk

Being the new girl isn't fun. I've been to three schools this past six months because my dad travels with work. He said this place will be permanent - Encino, Califonia. I had to leave my best friend Tory and boyfriend, Robby. Breaking up with him was difficult, he said we could do the distance but I said we were too young to be in a long-distance relationship, he flipped out and we barely said goodbye.

So here I am. At the gates of my new school waiting for the principal to escort me around. Because being the new kid isn't embarrassing enough you need to be escorting around by your dad's friend- might as well have class favorite tattoed on my forehead.

"Hello Tayla, haven't seen you since you were about thirteen!" Principle Lopez said as he approached me with a file in hand. "Hi sir" I replied, looking up at him as I was around 5'5 and he was over six feet. I think he sensed my slight irritation about the situation. "Let's head off then, first you have homeroom but well skip that and sign you up at the office before your first class" I nodded as he guided the way. The bell rang so the halls were empty, there was a slight commotion in the distance but Mr. Lopez seemed to either not hear or ignore it. We walked to the office where I signed my name on a few things, all standard things I had done what felt like a hundred times. We started walking to my first class which was Chemistry, yay! cant wait. The commotion from earlier grew louder as we were nearing the cafeteria.

"This isn't even close to being finished" A voice shouted, Mr Lopez, moving faster towards the cafeteria with me following behind him embarrassingly not knowing what else to do. A loud crashing noise was heard and before I stood this boy with a mohawk that looked electric blue stood over a string bean-looking guy. "Office now!" Mr Lopez shouted pointing to... hawk? As the mohawk guy stormed off glancing in my direction briefly smirking, string bean got up looking teary-eyed, Mr Lopez whisper talking to him, he nodded in response to whatever the principal said and began to storm off as well " And Demetri, go straight to class". So Demetri was his name, but I wondered who that other guy was and why was he beating on Demetri?

Lopez walked me to class and I was building up the nerve to walk in. The door opened suddenly, a boy walked out and down the hall. Now or never. Walking in the teacher looked preoccupied so I went to sit down near the front. " I'm guessing you're new," she said looking me up and down, " we have a seating plan" well I guess I'm not sitting there.

The teacher looked up so I walked over. "Hi I'm new and was wondering where to sit" the teacher smiled brightly telling me to sit near the space at the back next to a Eli, but as I looked over to the spot both seats were empty, I smiled internally. I sat down, the teacher started the lesson, and then bang the door flew open and the guy from earlier with the mohawk walked in. Please god, don't let him be Eli, there were no other seats but the one next to mine, I wanted the ground to swallow me whole at this point.

He walked in and everyone seemed to shrink a bit even the teacher. He threw his bag down and sat next to me. I felt his stare burn a hole in the side of my head and I slowly turned."Take a picture it will last longer" oh god why did I say that, he's gonna think I'm stupid. "I would if I had my phone, but some dumb fuck kicked it out of my hand," he said shaking his head and looking forward. I laughed a bit under my breath, some people turning back looking at me which made me turn bright red, I looked over to Mohawk guy and he was smirking, what a dick! And then he chuckled a bit looking at my tomato face.

The bell rang and the class ended, mohawk guy who I know now is Eli but everyone calls him Hawk according to him rushed out of class pretty quick, not before telling me to search for him at lunch. I have to say at first I was lowkey scared of him but he was pretty funny in class so I thought I might as well look for him, no one else has paid me any attention, and that girl from class seemed like a total bitch.

Lunch came around and I was trying to search for a massive blue mohawk but had no look. "Yo, you new here? I would have spotted a pretty face like yours before" a guy with spikey messy hair said to me."Uhm yeah, I am." I hated when people spoke loud near me it drew too much attention." Tyler we got a quiet one" this chubby blonde kid said patting his shoulder. I went to walk around him and he blocked me, okay now I was getting angry." Where you rushing off, made friends already?" "Yeah for a matter of fact she has" Hawk came out of nowhere and put his arm around my shoulders, I was thankful because this Tyler guy was pissing me off. "Cmon" he said kept his arm over my shoulder walking to a table.
