The landfall
It’s January 6th in 2019 the world is just everyday normal until a meteorite shower dropped a small meteor into the coast of California and what seemed to be harmless wasn’t. Black goo of parasites ate alive about close to a few thousand people covering the whole small resort town into beating heart of nests of these things which are called Scrawlers which are almost most faceless zombies completely erasing whatever was human left under the goo.
Task Force Cobra is a force put together on a small undetectable cargo ship with a laboratory and R&D along with medical facilities and such filled with some of the worlds best and most skilled operators from around the world from simple police units to full on counter terrorism like GIGN and SAS along with Navy Seals and Spetnaz.
A woman who was once with the FBI then was a ranger and was the first woman to join the Green Berets has been put in charge of this unit with her main goal is to contain and figure out what it is then get rid of it before it gets any worse. Her name is Kylia Robinson also known for short as Ky
Sunday afternoon Ky finally arrives via chopper on the Seabird aka the ship that Task Force Cobra will be operating out of it. It’s been a while since she has seen something this bad not since a 40 day siege in the Congo fighting against a warlord with her losing most of her green berets.
The chopper lands and she gets out taking off the headphones exiting the chopper heading to the bridge of the ship but is greeted by a man who looks rugged and he says “Commander welcome to the Seabird and Task Force Cobra is glad to have you here” She continues walking to the steps “Who are you?” She says but doesn’t look at him and he answers back “Names Reddie Patrickson I’m from FBI HRT I’m a weapons specialist and I help with getting the operators ready along with R&D Development with whatever they bring back” She puts on her glasses and shakes his hand as they stop by the stairs “how many operators do we have available?” He looks at her and sighs “out of the 200 we tried out from around the world, only 19 passes the mental test tho everyone passed the physical test” she puts her hand on her sighing “this will be some work. How many personnel on the ship as a whole?” Reddie starts walking up the stairs “close to 350 personnel on the ship but we also have a few scientists out in the field in sub zones where the hostile activity is light” Ky nods “get the operators we got in the planning room I want to meet them all we also just got orders for a mission so handpick the best team of 3” Reddie nods walking down the stairs as Ky goes up to the bridge to meet the Captain of the ship and some of the staff for navigation.
After a few hours Ky walks downstairs into the labs to meet everyone until she finally arrives in the command room and sees the operators lined up with their gear, she stands by the table “Operators I am your new CO for this task force. I’m sure you already know what our objectives are so first we gotta find out what these parasites are and try to get our scientists some work to do in the labs. If you get injured or the zone collapses due to it being overrun and you are not able to extract you will be covered in a foam like a shell until you can be rescued this helps you from being turned into one of them. We need to find out if they got mutations or anything so let’s try to get eyes on the ground. 3 teams of 3 operators will be sent into different locations to try and find a good location for a temporary lab so be careful and Godspeed, Red here will get you guys together” she says and walks away and Red checks a tablet “okay listen up I don’t wanna lose any operators on our first mission so if you don’t think you can make it than call for exfil or regroup with another team. The town is a complete ghost town now we think there’s no survivors left in the area everyone got turned into those things or evacuated. Team 1 is Hybnia,Nate and Polina. Team 2 is Terrell,Johnson and Katlin and for Team 3 is Ellie,Hunter and Williams so goodluck teams”
A few hours later the staff clear the flight deck as 2 choppers take off with Team 3 is waiting for one to come back for drop off.
After 15 mins the first chopper with Team 1 lowers slowly and pops red smoke as they rappel out of the chopper and scans around them as Nate calls into the comms “This is Team 1 were on deck by the shopping center it looks like a ghost town we don’t see anything or hear anything. We will be moving out” He says as the gives the move hand signal and the 3 of them move slowly around the outside of the shopping center until some black spikes fly at them and Ky looks at the command console, it shows that Hybnia’s heart is racing and that she’s injured in the right arm then firing is head on the communications.
Nate fires away killing a few of these things as they rush at the team on all fours and Polina drags Hybnia in cover then throwing a grenade killing a few of those things and they back off snarling as well as watching them slowly. Nate walks over to Polina “get her to the street we’re gonna have to call in evac to get her out.” He says then Polina nods grabbing her carrying her and she turns on her radio “This is Team 1 we need immediate exfil we’ve come in contact with an unidentified hostile there’s about 10 of them and Hybnia is injured she requires medical attention” Nate is behind cover firing away killing a few at a time as they advance inching closer to them.
Ky gets on the radio “Copy that Team 1 try to hold your position we are gonna get Team 2 to regroup with you” Red goes outside to the flight deck “Team 3 you guys are being sent into a hot area so get ready for contact. We have an injured operator in the field you’ll be filling in for Team 1 once they leave” he goes on the tablet and links helmet footage from Team 1 “seems like we have a general idea what the hostile look like. Open fire on anything that isn’t human” they nod to him as they get ready with their gear.
Team 2 is only a block away from Team 1 now until a screech is heard almost deafening them and a big almost rock looking creature chargers at them but Katlin dodges and fires her whole magazine into it barely scratching it. The creature grabs a car and throws it at Johnson but he dodges it and gets into cover “This is Team 2 we’ve come into contact with a very heavy unidentified hostile were barely scratching it! Tell Team 1 we can’t get to them” Terrell says on the radio as he helps up Katlin and they back up into a building placing a few claymores.
Meanwhile Team 1 is under fire as these creatures launch spikes at them constantly, Polina grabs a few grenades throwing them around the area as the fragments kill quite a few of them but one of the creature howl more causing more of its friends to rush the team. Nate sets up his AR on the wall “Make every shot count. Let’s kill these ugly fuckers” Polina gives a pistol to Hibnia getting her into position as they fire away thinning the herd of four legged creatures pushing them a chopper is heard around them and you hear a mini gun spin up firing pelting the ground with bullets at such a high rate killing dozens of the creatures and Team 3 rappels down as Nate and Polina help Hybnia up onto the ropes with Team 3 also getting back in and the chopper waves off heading back to the Seabird.
Team 2 is trapped inside a building as they got it boarded up and Johnson gets on the radio “This is Team 2 any update on the extraction?” Ky sighs looking at Red “uhh..this is command to Team 2 I got bad news..you guys will have to wait the night until youre clear. Thermals show you are completely surrounded. Goodluck operators out..” Ky puts down the radio and walks over to Red “I want a team of 4 ready for tomorrow also top priority on getting Hybnia back into the fight” Red nods walking off and Ky sighs leaving over the command table “This is gonna be a long operation..”
