Chapter 38
“Mommy? Mommy! Can you sing daddy’s song to us please?” I begged, I ran up to a beautiful young lady with light blond hair and pale blue eyes.
She was lying on her bed with tube attached to her, she was barely anything more then bone and skin wrapped around it. she had a sick bucket beside her and a bottle of water.
She had been reading a book when I came into the room, she made no hesitation to put it down and slowly sit up and I climbed on the bottom of her bed and made my way up to sit beside her. she smiled and patted my head agreeing.
“of course I can my love.” she looked over tot he doorway and waved a hand. “please children come in and sit on the bed.” he voices was light and kind but you could hear the soreness in her word the pain she was currently in.
It hurt her to speak but she did not let the young Luna know this, didn’t want to look week in front of her daughter. so I did not know it at the time to stop her from talking, stop her from singing. i would never had asked her to if I knew she was in pain.
I looked to the Door way to see five other children spill into the room and make there way over, did I really have that many friends? I only truly remember Draco who was the first child in the room, the other had black scribbled out faces.
Two dark grey hair children, one long one short. one silver hairs mid-length child and one pitch black to the floor hair.
we all looked at my mother as she began to sing a simple yet home made song my mother and farther came up with when I was little. it was mainly my farther who had come up with the song being a musician.
“shush my little Angel,
let your dreams invade.
for no one will harm you tonight,
and you will be there queen.
Farther gone, but mothers still around
to love you as you grow, until you learn to be the ruler.
Of you own kingdom!”
As my mother sang another clear light angelic voice Joined in, I looked towards the voice her face blacked out but I instantly knew.
Layla. She was my best friend, we were overly close. this was a memory, one from behind the black wall clearly but I don’t recall forgetting it or allowing myself to forget a memory like this. Layla had always been an amazing singer. like god have given her the talent personally.
her voice reminded my alt of Jacobs but I knew it was different. “That was beautifully sang Layla.” my mother voices drifted and the world around be blurred.
When my eyes opened next I was staring at a ceiling, I let out a rough cough that overshadowed the heart monitor beeping in the background.
I sat up slowly to see a sleepy Beth sat in the seat beside my hospital bed, when she noticed i was awake she sat up ad looked at me shock.
“Y-your awake?! How are you feeling? are you okay?” I looked at her confused.
“I’m fine- what’s going on?” I asked confused, she looked at the nurse who nodded.
“Well, you didn’t tell the nurse on campus you had drank the lake water... It’s potent curse water Luna you almost died... again. The water paralyzed you body it was a good think me and the girls didn’t leave you like you had asked.”
I nodded and attempted to stretch my stiff body. I pulled back with a hiss as the pain the spread through it, the nurse came over and filled with some wires before leaving again.
“How long have I been out?” I asked Beth as the Nurse finished up. Beth was silent for a moment, when I looked back at her. the face Berth had showed me that it was not particular good news.
“you were asleep for a week.” The blood in my vines ran cold, I looked at her in hopes she’d tell me it was a joke and i had only been her a couple of hours but she didn’t. she remained silent waiting for my reaction.
“I have missed so many class’s, I’m even more behind then I was before!” Beth nodded but staid silent for a moment.
“That is why I am here to help.” I voices boomed into the room. Looking over the voices belonged to a man in army like uniform. he held himself proudly in the door way while looking directly at me.
“w-who are you?” I asked, his aura made him come off scarier then he look and I was unsure if this was a don’t judge a book by it’s cover kind of situation. Beth stood up and nodded ahead to the man before turning back to me.
"I am Sargent Andrews, I have bee requested to come in and train you." she spoke calmly but with authority. Sargent? so his military?
"Training? what for?" I asked him, I say up slowly with the help of Beth.
"It seems when you use your magic you have to unfortunate possibility of you magic taking over and killing you... simply up your magic is trying to kill you." I looked at him shocked as Beth looked down. she clearly had heard this before.
"Rest up, I will collect you when it is time." he posture did not fault as he turned and marched out of the room. I looked at Beth, she smiled lightly to me and stood up.
"I'm going to head to class be good." I nodded my head and watched her leave. I was left alone with my thoughts but not for long.
"I mean I knew you were clumsy but really? cursed lake water?" I lent forwards to see Rhys stood leaning on the sorry with a smile. I shook my head and sat back as he came more into the room. "How are you feeling?"
He sat at the bottom of the bed and look at me with a weary smile. I nodded my head and smile back. "I am doing okay just rough and soar."
He got up and grabbed a wheel chair bringing it over to the side of the. "Come on lets get you out of here for a bit." He helped me into the chair and draped a blanket over e so I didn't get cold or show off the nurse gown I had been changed into.
