Fate or my Chosen Path

I recognize that some of my writing is likely to contain content which is considered by some to be triggering, however I feel that writing trigger warnings for my story will result in a large amount of spoilers for the rest of my readers, and I don’t want to decide myself which themes need a warning and which don’t.

“Alpha Grayson is on his way in Luna.” Our Beta Alex calling to me softly from the office door. With his eyes focused on his shoes, his voice remained soft as he hesitated in the doorway. “Alpha is still with… Kate, I don’t think he is planning to attend the meeting Luna.” Alex did not need to tell me, I could feel the dull pain brought on by light intimate touches between my mate Ethan, and his current partner. Every kiss and caress burning a hole into my brain reminding me of my mates many infidelities. A sharp pain flaring in my chest, I spoke to myself inwardly willing myself to harden my heart. This was just business, we were just business, or at least we were now.

All my life I had been trained, educated and pushed for one purpose. I was bred to be Luna of Blood Pack. Ethan was now Alpha, taken over from his father before him. When I was younger, I could not have been happier, he was my crush and my only goal in life. And we were happy together till the day he marked me, and I realised with a splash of pain that I was not the only female on his mind or in his life. Years passing, Ethan no longer even bothered trying to hide his many partners. He never loved me, I was just to do my job and duty to the pack. That was where our relationship began and ended. And then once every few months when I came into heat, I was a play thing… a potential incubator for his offspring.

“Let Alpha Grayson in, I will sort it out… thank you Alex.” Letting out a shaky breath, I braced myself to meet Alpha Grayson, we were to collaborate on a rogue problem. Or well… he and Ethan should have been discussing it. However, as of late, Ethan had a rather large appetite keeping him from doing his duties, and when I say appetite… I do not mean the excessive amount of food he called to our bedroom. Every new conquest causing me untold emotional damage, I kept it together. Ignoring the burn slowly intensifying in my mind as their intimacy grew by the second, I tried to focus on the door handle awaiting my visitor.

The pain expanding in my head, it was overwhelming my senses. Gritting my teeth, I closed my eyes not even noticing when Alex re-entered with Alpha Grayson in his company. “Luna!” Alex’s voice sounding with concern lacing every word and no doubt his face, I took a deep breath. Pinching the bridge of my nose, I lifted my head before running my hands through my hair trying to dislodge the pain that was continuing to build.

“Sorry just a minor headache, come in… Welcome Alpha.” Forcing a smile to my lips, I did not even have the chance to panic concerning this meeting with Alpha Grayson. Everyone had heard the rumours of his ruthlessness, to be perfectly honest I did not even know why he had initiated this collaboration. His pack was large, it was at least twice the size of our own. He had more than enough wolves to protect his lands and drive the rogues to extinction if he so chose too. And yet here he was…

Before I had managed to open my eyes, a tantalising scent filled my nose as a deep voice sounded so ferociously that my eyes flew open. “I found you!” Icey blue eyes catching my gaze, my body screamed out the word internally, mate! I knew it in an instant, this was my goddess given and apparently hand delivered mate. Just he was late, years too late. Once again, his voice sounding stirring my stomach to the point of nausea he snapped toward Alex. “Get out!” Watching as Alpha Grayson maintained my gaze, Alex fluttered at his side unsure what to do or where to go. Alpha Grayson’s fingers taking the back of Alex’s neck in one hand, he all but threw Alex from the room with force allowing to time or space for resistance.

The large figure of Grayson that exuded strength turning fully toward me, I watched his body square to the desk with unwavering eyes. With his square build and heavy steps approaching, I almost wanted to hide, though I could not even bring myself to look away. My heart sinking in my chest, I knew this could happen one day. That I would, or could find my soul mate, the one wolf made to be my other half. Though I was taken… marked already by Ethan the day I came of age, I was his in every sense of the word. Ethan owned my life, branded my body and controlled my future.

The door to the office slammed shut, the lock flicked over with a click as Alpha Grayson did not falter or turn away from me for a single moment. My stomach in knots, the giant that was my mate approached me. Getting closer with quick steps, I stayed seated in place not at all prepared for what was going to happen next. What did he want? What was he going to do? Feeling the rage rippling off his broad body, I almost wanted to cower awaiting whatever was to come next.

“Where is Alpha Ethan?” Without missing a step, Grayson continued walking till he was no more than a foot from my desk leaning over it toward me. Stretching out his thick arm, Grayson’s large hand grasped my chin turning my head to the side to bare my mark to his view. A growl escaping his lips as he prompted again more harshly this time, “where is he?” Grayson looming over my body, I could not deny him an answer. Like he too had some connection with me despite my prior marking, it felt wrong as I brought uncompromising words to my lips. Regardless to what I thought and felt, Ethan was my mate, not Grayson. I followed the path carved out for me without question, and now I needed to see it through.

“He is inundated at present. You may discuss the rogues with me.” Trying to remain emotionless and keep my voice clear, it was becoming increasingly difficult. Ethan and Kate mating, the weight of pain from was almost impossible as I squeezed my lips together into a thin line trying to remain silent. The sparks still zinging through my jaw from Grayson’s touch slightly lightening the constant burden of pain in my mind, I could not bring myself to pull away from the contact wanting to lean in further even with a growl bubbling in his chest.
