Look at me

Look at me

Look at my clothes

Look at this smile that is ready to decompose

Look at her makeup

Her eyes

Within are the lies that say I’m fine

Her jewelry

Her kindness

But it is burning up a hole inside

She is riddled in pain

But don’t lose focus

Work faster

Be smarter

Weren’t you the perfect daughter

Battle scars

Looking for a way out but you can’t see the door

Screaming at the wall till you can’t no more

Ah ah don’t complain

No excuses

This is a mans world and you are useless

Be a lady

Sit up straight

And forget about the way I manipulate

It’s not all men

No it’s women too

We just don’t want you to know the game and report your abuse

Knock knock

Nobody’s home

I checked out years ago

It began with my parents

I was isolated and alone

I didn’t know what love was till 19 years old

I quieted the voices in my head

Telling me I was better off dead

I grabbed a mirror and began to see

The sad little girl looking back at me

I hugged her and cried

I had let that little girl die

Healing began with me

Loving who I was always meant to be

So when you can’t get up

Grab a mirror and look at yourself

Don’t you dare give up

Look at me

Do you see the scars I hide

The smile I force

All those nights I’ve cried

Look at me

I’m perfect in every way

And if you ask

I’m fine is on the tip of my tongue

But I say I’m ok

Sissy: Beautifully written poetry, and so very emotional. I was addicted and couldn't put it down when I started reading. The authors writing is so good. I didn't see any errors, and it flowed. Very creative. Very sad.
