Chapter 1

"You know MaKayla, one of these days he is going to notice you're staring at him." my best friend Charlie Green says to me while I wait for him to finish getting his stuff from his locker. I turn to look at Charlie.

"He hasn't looked me since we were...9? 10? I really doubt he'll start now. But a girl can dream." I say with a sigh as I turn back around to look at Kyle, in a none creepy way.

Kyle Parker. Quarterback, academic genius(under me), and my crush since forever.

"Well, we're going to be late for class if we don't go now, or is Kyle going to start making you late for class now"

"Fine" I say with an eye roll as I slam Charlie's locker. "Hey, there's a full moon tonight..." I causal state as we walk towards our class.

"Yeah I know," Charlie says playing dumb,"You're obsessed with the lunar cycle, and your moods always get wanky around this time so I figured there was full moon tonight."

"Ugh, Rude!"

"Rude but true" he says with knowing look.

"Anyways," I say getting back to what I wanted to talk about before Charlie pointed out my moods, "Are we still going 'camping' tonight?"

"Duh!" Charlie says with an eye roll. My smile gets bigger. "We go out every month." We just walked into our last class if the day so I can't talk to him about it anymore.

As I take my seat, I think about how much trouble I would be in if my parents found out about what we really do we really do when Charlie and I go 'camping'. Our parents think we go out to practice our magic where nobody can find us, but that's the only a small part of it. Charlie is like me after all a witch...wait, he always corrects me on this he's a warlock not a witch, even though they are basically the same thing but whatever. Charlie and I agreed to go to my cabin in the woods to practice our magic one time every month, we've been doing this since we were 7 and our parents agreed to let us go alone. They finally agreed that it would be good bonding time for us since we have a connection that is rare these days, which include a link where we can talk to each other mentally. Every time we go out there is one thing that says the same, we go out during the full moon. Sometimes we skip school just so we're at the cabin during the full moon. I admit I have a bit of an obsession with werewolves and they're only in wolf form during full moons which is the reason we go out for full moons obviously. My parents think we go out during this time because that's when our magic of the strongest, which is true, but if they found out the real reason we go out every month at the same time they would kill me. Literally. Someone witch families hate werewolves, like my like mine, the Stones, and and then other witch families like Charlie's family, the Green's, don't. I've always been different from the rest of my family since they hate werewolves, whereas I sneak out to try and find one every month. I know it could be dangerous, but what's life without a little danger?! Also I know how to stop them. Since I'm an only child I try to do everything my parents ask me...just not staying away from wolves. There's a book with the legends about wolves in it and I read it every chance I get. I just hope Charlie brings the copy back to the cabin tonight, after I almost set it on fire(not my fault, the candle fell because Charlie distracted me). I wonder if that wolf will be back tonight the one that keeps on appearing every full moon. It seems that it drawn to me, but maybe I'm just imagining things again.

"Eath to space station MaKayla. Can you read me?" Charlie asks waving his hand in front of my face. I jump out of my seat. Charlie starts laughing as I cuss him out through our link.

"What?!" I yell after I looked around and found the class was empty.

"The school day's over!? I thought you would be running out of school, like you always do" Charlie says with humor as we walk towards our lockers.

"Where did the last hour go?" I ask as I look down at my watch.

"Let me guess day dreaming about Kyle?! He looked at me knowingly.

"That isn't really a guess if you know I'm always doing it. But for your information I was thinking about what would happen if my parents found out what we really do at the cabin every month." I say as we open our lockers.

"Hey don't worry. We've kept it from them since we were 7 and now we're about to be 17 so that's 10 years.

"Technically it's been 9 years and 10 months." I say as we slam our lockers and walk down the hall towards the doors.

"See, this is why everyone calls you the smart one!" he says with a smile. I bump him with my shoulder, "Hey! I'm just speaking the truth, even though we are twins and almost everyway." I roll my eyes at Charlie as we walk down the hall, though the door and down the stairs. "Oh! I'm going to bring the Book of Legends back the cabin. You know the one you almost set on fire." he says in a whisper.

"Shut up! You distracted me and made me dropped the candle and you know it!" I say jumping up and down with a mix of happiness and anger.

"Uh huh, sure. Back to the matter at hand I'm gonna bring the book back okay?" I stopped dead in my tracks and stared at him with a blank look on my face. "What is it? Are you okay?" Charles says very worried, "Is it your head again?"

"I love you! I love you! I love you! You are the best friend ever for being such a good care of me," I say as I basically run the rest of the way to Charlie's car. Charlie chases after me laughing. He's always worried about me guess what happens when I'm...

"I know you do," Charlie says interrupting my train of thought which is good cause whenever I go down that road it never lands anywhere good, "just try not to scare me like that again." Charlie says as we opened the doors to his car.

"I'll try," I say with a smile,"but seriously Char, you're the best."

" And I'm seriously trying to concentrate on how to survive 'till Monday without your parents killing me!" Char says with a smile as we put our seat belts on.

"If they find out because of you, you don't have to worry about them killing you...you'll are already dead by my hand not." I say like it's not a big deal, not even bothering to look up from my phone.

"I know! That's the scary part!" Char says laughing, "don't look at now but there's Kyle." I look up from my phone and spot him, I grin. "Sorry you can't stare him longer you little creeper," not sounding sorry at all, I glare at him, "but I have to finish packing for tonight," he says as he pulls out of the parking spot.

"It's okay. I mean it's not like he ever looks back. And I'm not a creeper!" I say no longer glaring at Charlie.

I last all of 10 seconds before I can't help myself I'll look at Kyle again expecting to see anything except for what I see. As I find Kyle all I see are his bright sky blue eyes staring back at me for the first time in a long time.
