Chapter 1 : This is my earth

I was standing in a small meadow with the soft green grass caressing my feet as I watched the wind pick up around me, causing my hair to blow in all directions like an angel in flight. “Adley!” my father, Chronos or Father Time, shouted from his car behind me. “ Get inside now! It’s starting snowing and we need to get home right away.” “Okay!” I exclaimed and ran into the car. As he drove to our home, I sat back and enjoyed the view of the landscape outside.

“Adley dear,” my mom called out, coming towards me holding a tray that contained three plates of hot food. “We made your favorite meal. I hope it tastes better than when we were last here...it’s been a while since then.” My eyes grew large as I took the plate offered to me by my mother. “Thank you, Mom! It looks delicious.” She smiled. “It is. You should know not to eat so much at once, sweetheart.” I slowed down because I didn’t wanna make a mess in the car. I didn’t wanna get my mom mad.

After finishing my food, we were already home. I got out of the car and went straight into my room, changed to something warmer for the snow, and went straight to my backyard. I walked down the trail that leads to the woods in my backyard. I carry some nuts, bread, and more for the animals. The first thing I see is a squirrel I give the squirrel 3 nuts and walk straight into the forest. After about 15 minutes of walking, I came across a bear.

I looked at him and he did the same. He growled at me and I whimpered quietly. Then, he went back into his home and I followed the tree line till I saw the waterfall. When I reached the water, I took off my coat and clothes and was in my bathing suit and dove into the water. After swimming underwater for quite a while, I surfaced. I look at the bottom of the waterfall to see a bunch of beautiful fish jumping around. “Hi, guys!” I said to them which caused them to jump into different parts of the river.

I looked back up at the surface of the water and just watch. Then I see my mom riding an eagle and then riding down to me. “I used to love coming here,” My mom says. “Me too!” I responded. We sat by the waterfall and chatted for hours until my mom told me to head back home before I catch a cold. After taking a shower, I put on my pajamas. I turned off the light and lay down in bed. I looked through my window at the moon and stars shining brightly outside. I sighed and closed my eyes, falling asleep.

The following morning, I woke up feeling warm all over. After getting dressed, I headed downstairs for breakfast and there was nothing but cereal. After eating my breakfast, I decided to take a ride on my bicycle. After biking a while, I stopped to catch my breath and took a rest. I decided to go check out the forest nearby where the waterfall and bears were. I got off my bike and started heading to the falls. It had gotten really light outside. “There she is…My home.” I say relieved.

I walked up to the edge of the falls to see it looked beautiful, especially with all of the flowers blooming, the birds singing, and even the sun peeking out from above the trees. “Wow! This place is amazing!” Then I had an idea. AN ADVENTURE! I got back home and told my mom the idea. “Where do you want to go?” My mom said while drinking coffee. I think for a while then I remember I have a project for Annapurna Massif. “I wanna go to Annapurna Massif,” I tell my mom.

My mom spits out her coffee. “Of course not! I can’t protect you there. You know how many people died there. ” “Mom, please,” I beg. “No.” She tells me. “Please. I promise you’ll find a way to get there. Please.” Tears filled my eyes. “No! You could get hurt or killed, I will never forgive myself if something happens.” She tells me. “Fine.” But deep down I still wanted to go.

I felt disappointed but I guess I shouldn’t have expected anything less. I put on my jacket, helmet, gloves, and my bike helmet. It took me longer than I thought but I was able to leave my house without my mom realizing. Once I entered the forest, I knew where to go. As I traveled further down the path and into the depths of the forest, I heard the roaring waters of the waterfall. I walked towards it until I arrived at a giant rock wall that was carved into the mountain.

It took me about an hour before I found another huge tree. When I climbed the tree, I saw a ledge overlooking the fall. On the edge of the ledge, there was a small opening. I climbed down from the tree and walked over to the cave entrance. When I stepped foot into the cave, a strong gust of wind hit me making me shiver. A figure emerged from the darkness and looked at me surprised. “Who are you?” She demanded. I removed the helmet and removed my gloves revealing myself. “I’m Adley,” I told her. “What are you doing here?” She asked me and walked towards me until her face was inches from mine.

The scent of strawberries assaulted me making me realize I am close to the source. Her long red hair covered her beautiful green eyes which reminded me of the ocean. When she looked closely, her beautiful dark green eyes became darker. Her lips moved as if saying something but I couldn’t hear what she was saying. She leaned closer to me. Just as she was about to touch me, she suddenly disappeared. I stood there frozen in disbelief. Where did she go? Where does she come from?! I tried calling out her name but no noise escaped my mouth. She must be a ghost.
