Prologue
"Accio wand!" - You heard from behind you, turning around to find out it was your brother. Ebenezer Hanlon. He was a stern man, much older than you. Thirteen years older while you had only just turned the young age of eleven. He was tall and lean with brown unkept hair that hung in front of his brown eyes. He wore a dark brown, cotton trench coat that came down to around his knees, with black trousers and a dress shirt to match.
"Stayin' up late now, are we <y/n>? What will mother have to say about this?"- With a flick of his wand, the candles around the two of you burst to life with small flames. You didn't realise how dark it was, distracted by a small muggle children's book that came out the year you were born; Winnie the Pooh.
"She won't know unless you tell her!"- You hushed closing the pages of your book, setting it on top of a small table next to the chair you were sitting on, "Besides, why on earth are you back home at this hour? You're usually back three hours ago from now."
"I had some extra business to take care of, y'er understand? I thank'ee kindly in advance if you don't tell mum. She'll do my head in tomorrow if y'er spout a word."- He said while rolling his eyes thinking of the unfortunate possible outcomes.
"Don't be daft,"- You chuckled, "I'll be off to bed now anyways, I just wanted to make sure you came home safe..."- Whispering the last part, you pick up your book and head upstairs where your bedroom lies.
Standing infront of your door, you hold out your arm, heading to open the door until you hear your brother speak once again.
"I'm taking you to Diagon Alley, remember? It's tomorrow, so get ready early so we can get all the good stuff before the others come."- He babbled while turning around to head down the stairs with a big grin stretched across his face.
Smiling too, you nod your head in approval and finally opened your door to head into bed. Closing your door behind yourself, you dropped your book that was clutched in your hands onto the carpeted floor and leaped towards your bed; landing straight on your stomach, you rolled over onto your back and lulled your head to the side to watch the candle by your bed flicker.
Eyes starting to feel heavy, you closed them and drifted off into a world only you could see inside your head. School was starting soon, and you could not wait to attend. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you heard tales that it was a wonderful place.
Thud thud thud...
Sturing in your bed sheets, you open your eyes slowly, blinking away any sleep left in the corners of your eyes as you gradually adjusted to the light streaming through your curtains. It was already morning.
Thud thud thud...
There it was again. Gently, you sat up and stretched your arms and body, letting out a little whimper as you did so.
Thud thud thud...
"Oh, what in Merlins beard do you want with me?!"- You rasped. Suddenly, it clicked.
"Diagon Alley! Ebenezer, why didn't you wake me up sooner, now all the good stuff will be gone before we get there!"- You gasped as you hopped out of bed running around, trying to get fully clothed.
"I have been for the past two hours, but you kept tellin' me to 'bugger off'"- He chuckled behind your bedroom door.
"That's no excuse!"- Fully dressed, you opened the door rapidly, staring up at Ebenezer then looking down to his feet, "What are you doing? Get your shoes on!"
You shoved past your brother, stumbling down the stairs. Running towards your front door, you found your shoes perched up against the wall next to the door with a collection of other shoes from other family members. Slipping them on, you rushed back to Ebenezer grabbing his wrist harshly and tugging him down the stairs; which he was walking down at a leisurely pace.
You dragged him to where the rest of the shoes were placed and watched him do his shoelaces in a neat, beautiful bow.
"Quick, quick, quick! What if Ollivanders ran out of wands! I wouldn't be able to go to Hogwarts then, it'd be all your fault."
Ebenezer looked up at you with a dismissive smile on his face. "Ollivander runnin' out of wands? I think not."- He chuckled.
"Well, I wouldn't know that, would I? Whatever, just quickly get ready!"
Ebenezer stood up from his sitting position and walked into the living room with you on his heels. At the end of the living room stood a large, dark, marble fireplace which you knew to be a Floo Network. Ebenezer rarely used it himself, as he knew how to apparate and found it much more convenient than wondering around, trying to find some other Floo Network. But as he was with you, he understood that you would enjoy this more than feeling sick after apparating with him.
He stepped into the fireplace, ducking down slightly due to his height, with his hand stretched out for you to take. "<y/n>, we'll go together, hm?"
Nodding, you grabbed his hand and stood in the fireplace next to him. Ebenezer stuck his head and free arm out, grabbing some grey powder-like substance out of a leather bag and bringing it back towards the two of you.
"Right, ready?"- He smiled looking down at you.
"As I'll ever be."- You sighed with a grin spread across your face.
"Well then. Diagon Alley!"- You heard him say clearly, dropping the Floo powder onto your feet.
Hearing a loud bang, your sight erupted with green flames as you felt your whole body tingle and shake from it. You kept your eyes shut as you felt the floor leave from under your feet. After a second, you suddenly felt the hard concrete again under your feet, only you felt cooler than before.
You felt a nudge at your shoulder, in response, you opened your eyes and here you were. Diagon Alley.
Parents and children huddled together, making sure not to lose anyone, while there were an odd few on their own carrying pets or an assortment of bags and brooms.
"Come on then, we don't have all day. I have a list of things we need to get y'er, understand? Mustn't a single thing be missed, y'er hear me?"- Ebenezer announced. You smiled in response and took his hand as he led you down the alley, pointing to various shops as the two of you wondered down to your first destination. Ollivanders.
