The Angelus Bell

Trotting down the dusty corridors of St Martins he heard a racous voice issuing from the hallways behind him. His heart started to pound at a geometrical progression threatening to escape from his borny rib cage.For a split seconds he pretended to be unaware but no sooner did he ignore than he turned to face his worst nightmare. "What are you still doing outside , come here young man " A deep husky voice issued from the mountainous man , " I said come here little man and state your business ."he roared," didn't you hear the bell rang?".The poorly dressed student stood up and started marching towards the 7 ft tall monster .

He was not the smiling type , from safe distance you could hear his nostrils bellowing with rage and his heart throbbing fast . His huge jet black shoes allowed his humongous feet to spread with heavenly comfort .On the other hand he held what looked like an old famous title from Shakespeare with the words" It will end in tears " printed on the worn and torn aging covers.The other hand stayed thrust challengingly in his pocket giving him a power pose displaying supremacy and undelightful intentions.A shade of grey hair slowly ate up what remained of his balding head and a thick black patch of ungroomed moustache lay under his beaked nose with a shrub of khaki beard hanging under his point chin.Drawing closer you could see his crimson eyes which were slowly popping out of his chocolate brown skin."Twaaaaa", "twaaa", and immediately silence descended upon the learning area like heavy rains.His goliath arm and chubby palm which petered into fine long fingers lay mapped on the young man's face sending icy voids to his spine.

A whimper tried to escape the young mans lips but he knew he would be asking for more trouble. For a moment the earth froze and then there was wild jeering and ululation.Different voices and different sounds all unbundled at once throwing unpleasant teases towards the victim until the giant stamped his feet on the wooden tiles possibly fuming with rage and for the second time all the sound died leaving the classroom area with graveyard silence.He grabbed his victim by the collar and deposited his scrawny body on front of an old weathered and termite infested door and like wounded prey the boy lay there to take offense."Ndidzoke uri ipapo uone" He barked in the local language without any translation one could picture what it meant because with no hesitation the little guy stopped the pretentious paralysis act and dived into the nearby classroom sealed the door shut and planted his skeletal body into a wooden chair and it squeaked as if it was in agony.

You could smell the caucus of noise slowly rotting in the nearby mortuary as not even a single soul made a sound.Everything stopped moving for quite sometime even the chipping birds which took refuge in the nearby Musasa trees kept quiet for a moment to let the horror sink through.

This was just any normal day at St Martins high school.With his strong military background Mr Venn had managed to conquer the resistance and wiped all mischief of the face of the mission school.His presence was overwhelming even the other teachers talked to him with their tails between their legs.He had domion over every living and non living thing.Not even an ant crawled in his office or a fly on his back. He would celebrate every event with seething temper .Far from jolly he was cold and the world's funniest jokes wouldn't afford to give generous grin .You couldn't picture his face without a grim and at the mention of his name smiles would fade, hearts would race ,panic would strike.Surely he was an epitome of the walking dead , a living nightmare!
