Preface

She was going at lighting speed. “Elizabeth we have plenty of time out here, calm down!” “Darting through the woods for whaaa?” I rolled my eyes, continuing to chase her. She jumped from tree to tree acting like a monkey. “Aren’t we werewolves? Elizabeth I said mind linking her, you have to be careful you have never completed the full process of transformation.” “We have never tried shifting alone, I myself am still getting used to four paws.”

Racing past me, “I will chill!” “Loosen up some grumpy pants, this year we’ll have some fun.” “Don’t ruin this moment.” “Fine!” I said. Attempting to please my bestfriend I tried opening up to nature, adoring the sound of the flowing river, the sight of the soaring birds, sounds of the chipmunks dropping acorns. I allowed my eyes to gradually fall as I dashed past Elizabeth.

I heard her laugh but didn’t think much of it, right before I thought of asking her what was funny I stumbled over something. Not having full control over my wolf just yet, I fell over snout first. “ELIZABETH! What the heck is your problem child,” I growled. She sat there with a mischievous laugh, “nice of you to join me” she mumbled. I rolled my eyes with such irritation, forcing myself to roll by her side.

The waterfall’s rushing water was so soothing that it made my body relax almost immediately. I felt a little tired so I decided to rest my eyes, with Elizabeth at my side I felt safe. But Athedite and Artemis were still arguing in the mind link about the incident that occurred earlier. “Shut up,” I said after brushing my paw across my face. Then feeling something brush against my nose, I assumed Elizabeth was trying to mess with me.

Why the heck is this fuzzy tail. . !” As I was starting to ask Elizabeth why she was hovering over me with such a protective stance she was thrown across the waterfall. I swiftly rose on my hind legs, taking a fighting position. To view a rogue standing right in front of me. “ELIZABETH ARE YOU OKAY?!” I yelled in mind link.

No answer, more rogues surrounded me, jumping below from the treetops. She must have been surrounded as well, fighting for her own survival. “Cmon Elizabeth answer me,” I tried the mind link several times. . . “ASYIA” she called. I could hear her screaming and panting. I had never fought in my life but I did some training of my own from time to time.

The rogue threw himself at me, I made a smooth move, twisting my body to the right and running to the left. “He won’t fall for that again,” I thought. He was pretty tall, with dark brown hair, about 6 feet. I couldn’t defeat him, but I could possibly outrun him. Mid-20’s “I’m only 16, no biggy” I thought.

Using my ability to disguise myself, I turned into someone he desired, and when I got close enough I jumped on top of him clawing out his bodily organs. “Good thing I sharpened my claws”. . .I thought. “ELIZABETH!” Yelling as I turned around to be in the clutches of a rogue. Looks about my age, light orange hair, 6 feet as well. I couldn’t turn around, he was too strong so I scratched him where the sun doesn’t shine. I was going to find my best friend if it was the last thing I did.

“ASYIA!”. . .it was faint. . .very faint but a sign of life. “Athedite!” Speak to her while I fight off these rogues, “of course, you didn’t even have to ask, she’s alive but struggling further in the woods.” “How did she manage to be so far away?” I thought. “Impossible”. . .I managed to fend for myself only leaving with a couple of scars but they healed faster than expected. “Perks to having Alpha blood I guess.” I tried, I ran as fast as my four legs would take me to find her, they just kept coming.

Dropping from the tree’s shifting into werewolves the minute they hit the ground. It was magnificently terrifying, I’ve never seen anything like it. “Could we one day do the same thing?” I was curious but more focused on finding my bestfriend, “to the right”, “now where Athedite?” “LEFT HURRY UP YOU SLOW. . .THERE!” she was in clear view, in the arms of a rogue being carried into the shadows.

I took a shortcut jumping from tree to tree, I had to make it, I had to save her before it was too late. Two seconds before I hit the ground I was knocked down, “what the heck!” I’m not sure of what happened. I got right back up only to be jumped by a larger wolf, one with dark orange fur. “It couldn’t have been him!”

“I scratched this dude’s balls like come on.” I layed there contemplating on what to do, I could barely speak, his wolf was so heavy, I felt as if my chest was being compressed. I screamed to Elizabeth in the mind link but no reply. Bouncing up with strength I didn’t have beforehand. I wouldn’t let her out of my sight, despite the challenge.

I managed to escape the rogue, decreasing the distance we had within reach until I was slammed against the tree. “ATHEDITE WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU DOING?” “Aren’t you supposed to be watching my back?!” “Asyia somethings different, I didn’t feel a physical push.” “It was almost as if a force pushed us.”

I tried getting up, nothing, no strength, my wounds were healing but not fast enough. I managed to sit up before a woman’s figure stood before me. “Now stay DOG!”, she said with no hesitation. I had just noticed that we were in a different part of the woods, the ones my parents used to tell me stories about. It was dark, gloomy, and most of all terrifying.

STAY AWAY FROM HER”,

I yelled. I felt a smack across my face. “Speak again, I’ll do a lot more than that next time”, she said. Trying to move from the same position she had me in. I looked up to see Elizabeth knocked out, body dangling, lifeless. “We’ll meet again,” she said. As she signaled to the other rogues that it was time to go. Right before turning into what looked like ash. If I changed into a human form it would make me more vulnerable. I felt my eyes water, dropping my head. “

I couldn’t save her.”
