I'm Sorry

It was dark everywhere. The wind was blowing from the east and it was drizzling. Only a lamp post near the street was the only source of light and shelter. The atmosphere was cold and there were no people around as it was raining.

Running along with her bag on her head she went under the roof. Trying to call someone but it was like no one was in her favor that day. There was no network.

She suddenly noticed a man not far away from her.

The man was gazing at her but indirectly. She had no clue how the man looked because it was raining. The man was continuously staring at her like he had known her for a long time and if he wanted to reach her.

She didn’t know him so she tried to ignore him.

After a while when she finally got connected to the network, thought that it might not be as bad day as she had thought. As soon as she got connected, the first thing she could do was to call a friend who could drove her home.

“Marina, is that you?” There was a fear in her voice when she started to speak. “Yes, who’s on the line?” She called on her landline number by pressing the numbers, she knew the connection may get lost again.

“I’m Ayesha, can you listen to me?” She spoke as fast as she could. “Oh, Ayesha! Didn’t you just leave the party hours ago? Have you reached home?” She was her best friend, recognized her voice in seconds.

“No, I didn’t, that’s why I’m calling you. I’m stuck in the middle of a road. There is literally no connection here and I don’t even know how much long I can keep up the conversation.”

“Okay listen, can you send me your location now? I’m coming to pick you up, just wait a while.” Marina knows how to handle situations and what needs to be have done. “Yeah, I’m sending my location, keep an eye on the messages.”

Before she tried to cut the call, Marina said, “Hey and don’t send the location on the landline number!” She said as she was about to laugh but knowing her situation she didn’t.

“I know! Can you just hang up now?” She wasn’t angry as she felt a sense of relief that she wouldn’t have to stuck there through the night. She sent her location through the message to Marina.

The rain hadn’t stopped yet but it was slowing down. She almost forgot about the man who was there. When the thought hit up her mind, she looked at the left.

There was no one there. She had thought that the strange man who was looking at her went away.

The rain was almost over but the cold wind was still blowing. But it only had been a couple of minutes and it was also quite far from Marina’s house. So, she had to wait there until she would have arrived.

Did it really went the way she had thought?

Suddenly she heard a voice of someone walking towards her and when she turned left, she saw that it was the same man.

The whole face was hidden with a mask expect his eyes. The rain had stopped by then so she could clearly saw how the man looked.

He had a fierce look in his eyes as he was slowly coming to her. She was scared and started to walk away. The man started to move fast towards her so she started running.

But she slipped.

“Why are you following me and what do you want from me?” She spoke but she was trembling in fear. The man didn’t reply to her.

She noticed the man was holding a knife in his hand. The knife was so thin and sharp that it could cut through any part of the body in just one attempt.

“Why the hell are you holding a knife! What do you want to do?”

“Isn’t it obvious, I’m here to kill you.” She was scared to death after hearing this.

“But I haven’t done anything to you. Why would you kill me?”

“What have you done? Your existence disgusts me. You are just a burden for this world and me. You have no right to live.” The man told her while holding the knife in his hand.

“I’m sorry, please don’t kill me.” The last thing she could do was to beg for her life. She begged to him and the drops of her tears were falling through her eyes.

“Are you really asking for forgiveness? How dumb can one be! Do you really think I’m going to spare your life?” He stopped for a while.

“You have no purpose in life, you don’t do anything but just woo around. You have no one to call your own and I don’t think anyone will even remember you after you die. You literally have no reason to live”

“Is that the only reason you want to kill me?” She spoke as she knew there was no escape from it.

“I don’t need to answer you, just die.”

People often tell, the moment before you are about to die, all the memories of your life start to show. She didn’t believe it only till she was confronting death.

All the memories of her life started to flow in her mind, the memories she had lived through her life. She realized, she didn’t want to die yet and started crying.

The man started to come closer and she was crawling backwards. Finally, he took the aim…
