Summary

Alistair Rose-Ward is part of the fifth generation of Inmortuae- powerful, undead beings with special abilities who feast on the essence of humans. After a dangerous encounter with hunters and persecution by humans in their town, the Rose-Ward family packs their bags and moves to Lévis, Canada. For two years, life is peaceful and the powerful family remains undisturbed. However, their past begins to catch up to them and slowly, the very foundation that their species rests upon starts to crack and crumble. Humans are found dead, ominous warnings are left, and much to the family's deep displeasure, they find themselves turning to the local Lykos- a hostile, fiercely protective human/canine species. The two must learn to put their hatred and fear aside in order to protect themselves, and their town. While at first, the Lykos are resistant, good-natured Cassius Grey begins to outstretch a fragile olive branch of peace to serious and sullen Alistair, hoping to protect the people he loves. The pair become a force that threatens to shake the thin harmony between their species- but they might be exactly what everyone needs to survive, and to thrive.
