IBLIS - The Strange Ear Buds

11th December 2022 was a Sunday; Siddhu a tall and fair looking teenager began his day with a warm up in the cool breeze. He stepped out of his house, wearing a jacket over a white t-shirt by having a brisk walk along the road. As it was a foggy morning, Siddhu squinted his eyes just to see his way. However, he managed to reach the trivium. Though the light was dim, Siddhu noticed a man digging up in the middle of the road. He was wearing an unkempt outfit and was covering his face with clothe. He kept something inside the pit and moved away in panic. Siddhu yelled “Sir... Sir...” but was not able to reach him. Everything seemed strange, confused and misty in Siddhu’s eyes. Curiosity got the best of him and wanted him to see what was kept inside. He stepped towards the pit, knelt and removed the mud. He saw a small box kept inside, he took the box out of the pit and unwrapped it “A pair of ear buds!” Siddhu whispered, “Who was he and why did he bury this brand new ear buds under the mud?” he wondered. He placed them inside the box and dropped it inside his pocket. It was a kind of stealing someone’s stuff but still he did not wanted to lose them as he was already planning to buy the same. Siddhu felt ecstatic and rushed to his house. He locked the door, took off his jacket and threw it on to the bed and grabbed the box out of his pocket. He picked the ear buds and inspected, it was written “IBLIS” on the either sides. The clock ticked six, while he began to take it to his ears, the phone rang. It was his friend Vishnu who lives next to the street in which he lives. Siddhu picked up the call “Hey man, are you still alive?” Vishnu joked, Siddhu chuckled and said “Yeah dude I’m here in my house”. “Oh my goodness! Happy for you bruh” kidded Vishnu, Siddhu chuckled again. “You know what? It’s been a month you came out for a match, will you be coming at least today?” wanted Vishnu. “Hey don’t worry, I’ll try” said Siddhu. “What? You said you will just try, huh? What’s wrong with you Siddhu” Vishnu muttered in grim “If you are not coming today then listen, I am gonna break the window with the ball for sure” he added. “No...Vishnu please don’t do that, I will be on time” illuminated Siddhu. Vishnu felt left out in the cloud and he ended up the call without any further speaking. Siddhu sighed, by the way he remembered about the ear buds “How come I forget that” Siddhu whispered with a smile. Taking those ear buds out of the box “It’s time to hear some fresh music let’s go” Siddhu cheered. He took his phone and tried pairing with the ear buds; unfortunately it failed to pair with his phone. That was the 6th time he trying to pair and finally the ear buds got paired with his phone. He placed the ear buds into his ears and tapped the button of the right ear bud. He randomly played a song to check its working. The music played “Jhalak Dikhla Ja”, Siddhu was such a happy camper at the moment. He placed his phone on a table close to the window and stepped back. Standing in front of the mirror he started vibing to the song, he also muffled as it was one of his favourites. Abruptly, the sound got cracked and started playing a weird noise “drrr....” it was heavy and unbearable. “Oh my Gosh! What a terrific sound” shrieked Siddhu. He double tapped the button of the right ear bud, promptly, the sound halted. He double tapped the button again, without delay it worked normal and Siddhu started vibing again facing the mirror. After few seconds he got the same piercing noise “drrr...”. “Argh!” Siddhu muttered in anger, right away he detached the ear buds from his ears and placed it inside the box. But, things changed. Siddhu stood in anxiety. What is just happening? Siddhu was clueless, he couldn’t believe his eyes. Looking at the mirror, he gently raised his hands towards his ears and felt the ear buds still stuck over there. Siddhu gasped for breath, he took the box and opened it to check if the ear buds are inside. It was like dealing with an unexpected turn of event. He couldn’t find the ear buds inside the box. Siddhu made an agonized cry; he felt a sense of foreboding. Looking at the mirror he stepped in reverse, the ear buds started making a strange hypnotizing psychic sound. It triggered him and made him feel drowsy. He encountered his soul leaving his body, back against the wall, Siddhu screamed out standing in front of the mirror. Under illusion he recognized his reflection in the mirror crying for help but it was weird until he knew that he is trapped inside. He witnessed someone controlling his body beyond him. The air turned black around him, his nerves frazzled, his eyes turned red, he lips curved with mirth, and typically he was out of his mind. Staring across the room, Siddharth searched for pointed objects in and around the cupboard and found a paper-cutting white knife with razor-sharp edges. He grabbed the knife and left the room in fury. He stepped out of his house, the sky turned black in his eyes, he experienced an actual rebirth, he sniffed the air like a dog tracking a scent, he sighed and wanted to feel the warmth of someone’s blood with his hands. By the way, he found a woman coming on the other side carrying a bag of vegetables. The hysterical sensation triggered him and urged him to kill her. Making sure that no one watches him, he darted near her, took the knife and waved over her face, the blood splashed over Siddharth’s face, he pushed her to the ground, slapped and beaten her roughly. “Please leave me” She cried in agony. He stabbed the knife into her chest ceaselessly. The blood drained like a river. “I can’t wait for” he fired up and snuffed the warm blood. His anger and killing emergence did not repeal. He was like a monster in thirst of blood. Even though he sensed that her soul left her body, his fierce intention to kill her brutally did not end; he stabbed her chest relentlessly until her heart pierced out. He ripped up the heart and squeezed it; the warm blood flowed in drops through his hand. He rubbed the blood all over his body in fury. His white shirt turned red. He slumped and leered at the knife with dropping blood with a demonic laugh. He got high on his victory, his eyes sparkled. He left the place and came back home with blood stains all over his body.

He locked the room, took the knife out and made a profound cut on his palm. He knelt and sketched a five pointed star encased in a circle. He made about 6 cuts all over his body two on face, two on hands and two on legs. “Finally, it’s my day, WHAAHAHAHA the sweet smell of victory” Siddharth elated and deliberately brought the knife near his neck to quell himself. On the other end, Siddhu trapped under illusion, was enduring senseless and was drowning in the dark. Out of the blue, a ball pierced through the window, it stroke the phone kept on the table, the phone fell down and broke into pieces, the mirror crackled, the ear buds unpaired, and the knife slipped off his hand in parallel. Siddhu fall to pieces and felt his body. He firstly pulled the ear buds out of his ears and threw them on the bed in aggravation. He encountered severe pain in his cuts, he squealed bitterly. He lost his nerves; dark circles around his eyes appeared weary, his lips looked pale. Somehow, he paused for a moment and found there to do something with the ear bud first. He tore his shirt to stop the bleedings from the cuts and took his jacket and wore it, he hid his face with a cloth, only his pained eyes with dark circles were visible outside. He picked the ear buds, placed it inside the box and moved out. On the way, he noticed a crowd of people gathered on the opposite side of the road, they were spooky, he snubbed it because he realized that the ear buds with him is dangerous than the crowd. He rushed to the trivium so as to dug in and bury Iblis below ground. Soon after he embedded it, he felt mellowing out, his vision was bright, the sky turned clear, he undergone a positive vibe, he was pleased and got to his feet. He got moving back to home, meanwhile in a few steps right away, he met with the same burden, his vision flickered, the sky turned black again, some bad vibe got on him. He peeped at the time in his watch, it showed 6. Like a shot, a voice raised, “Sir... Sir...” yelled someone behind him. “Oh, no! It’s gonna happen again” Siddhu whispered in fear.
