The Last Painting

THE LAST PAINTING

Jackson and Katy were living with their grandma Lucy. They have shifted from their old house and moved to their new own house. They bought an old ,classic house of a great family who lived and died in that same house once upon a time. Jackson was 12 years old and Katy was 5 years old. They were excited for the new house, because it was big and beautiful. Grandma Lucy's legs were paralyzed and she was in the wheel chair. Jackson and katy ran into their rooms in the new house happily. Jackson went into his room. The things of the preceding family were left. The corner walls were screened with white cloth. He take off that cloth. The wall was written ‘Make it unpure' in blood.Jackson got shocked and called his grandma. But she can't come up , so he ran down. “Grandma! Grandma! There was blood in the walls" Jackson said.

“ what? Blood?” Grandma asked.

“ yes grandma, it looks awkward" Jackson said.

“ ok. Don't worry , I'll do something" grandma said. He went back to his room and screened the walls again.

He found a small way in his room( like ventilation ways). He followed that way, it took him to the store room which was at the ground. It was a secret way. The store room walls were hanged with paintings of owners who owned this house in certain periods. The last painting looked weird because it looked like unfinished. The last one was painting of headless man. Jackson looked at that and felt a little scared.

“Jack, what are you doing here?” grandma asked.

“ Grandma, I love this house but i am scared too, have a look at that last painting". She looked that painting and told Jackson that head of that painting was perished.

“( with a smile) oh! Dear, you shouldn't fear. You should be bold at any situation. You should take care of Katy after me. So, you shouldn't be scared”Grandma said and kissed Jackson.

“Mm ok grandma", Jackson said.

At night all were sleeping, suddenly Jackson heard a sound from the store room.Jackson woke and went through the secret way. The last painting was on the floor. It fell from the wall. Jackson took that in his hands and looked at the painting. The painting was looked like it was painted by blood.Beetles were sucking that painting, the beetles crawled in his hands , he threw that painting and ran away to his room. He lyed on his bed, he heard sound of walking feets outside his room. He scared and didn't get up of his bed. The next morning, Katy came to his room and woke him.

“ Jack, it's getting late for school , wake up" katy said.

Jackson woke and looked around. Katy looked at him for few seconds.

“ Jack, have you seen that too?” , katy asked.

“ are you too ?” Jackson asked her.

“ Yes, i have seen that little girl with her neck scratched with knife, she scared me" , katy said.

“what? a girl?”

Katy nodded her head as yes. Grandma called both. Jackson felt more scared.That night, Jackson can't sleep because he heard lots of noises from store room and out his room door.

Katy ran to his room and knocked the door. “ Jack..Jack"

“ Hey Katy, what happened?”

“ I can't sleep, someone was walking in and around my room, I'm scared"

“ Don't worry, I'm here. I will always be with you" Jackson said to Katy.

She nodded her head and smiled.

“ Let's sleep together in my room" Jackson said. She slept with Jackson that night. The next morning, Katy was so sick. They took her to the hospital. They saved her but she lost her speech due to extreme fear. She didn't speak and didn't responsed to anything. She became like freezed. Jackson was taking care of her. That night , he heard sound again from store room. He went in , it was dark, he turned on the lights , a headless man was standing infront of him. He shouted and ran away. Grandma woke and came to Jackson.

“ Dear, what happened?” Grandma asked.

“ A man without head, i saw him".

“ oh , it may be a bad dream, don't scare".

“ No. I saw him at the store room".

Grandma went in and looked around, but nothing was there. She don't know how to compromise him. But she too felt something bad in that house. After compromising Jackson, grandma moved to her room in wheel chair. She saw dots of blood on the way to and in to her room. She scared. In dreams , grandma saw images of a man without head, holding an axe in his hand. The next day morning , Jackson didn't felt well, so he took day off for school. He stayed in his room the whole day, he even didn't come down to eat. At evening , grandma called him. He went down. “ Dear,what happened?”

“ Grandma, i don't like to be here, Let's move to our old house".

“ No..No.. we can't, this is our house,understand one thing, nothing is powerful than you" grandma boosted him. He felt better and moved to his room. He opened his room door, that headless figure was standing in his room. He screamed. Grandma swithered. The figure disappeared and at that instant , he heard scream from katy's room. He ran to her room. That headless figure holding her upside down and pointing an axe to her neck. Meanwhile , grandma called out neighbours to help. They are getting in , at the same time Jackson was falling from up . His head was bleeding , he closed his eyes. Two of the neighbours went up to save Katy and the others took Jackson to the hospital. After few hours treatment, doctors came out.

“ we saved him but he lost his memory"

Grandma's eyes shedded tears. But she felt that it was some sort of good. They moved to another house the next day.

AFTER 10 YEARS.........

It has been ten years that they were in this new house. Jackson was studying his demonology degree. And in leisure times, he was going for ghost hunt and uploaded that videos in social media. Jackson and his classmates were in seminar hall, a girl was explaining her project about haunted paintings. She presented a picture of old painting of a man without head. “ It was painting of a king, before finishing this that painter was killed by the king by cutting down his head with an axe.The reason behind this was, that painter was portrayed as bad artist by some other jealous artists, and this made king angered and he killed him by cutting his head. But after two days, that artist came back to finish that painting, he killed the king in the same way he killed him and drew the king's head with king's blood. After thousands of years , that painting was seized from the secret room of a old palace.That painting was kept in the museum but it went missed the next day without trace". The girl finished her seminar . Jack felt very curious about this. After college hours ,he went to a haunted place for his next video shoot. After finishing, he returned home.

“ Jack,please stop this, i have let you you to study this degree just for your interest but i never allowed you to visit haunted places, it is not safe for you. Try to understand ” grandma said.

“ Grandma, i lost my memory when i was 12,i can't remember anything except the words ‘ Nothing is powerful than you' , i don't know who said that to me but that day i have decided not to scare of anything. I came through lots and i hope, I'm ready to face anything" Jackson said.

Grandma shedded tears. Jackson comprimised her. She smiled at last. Katy is still not cured, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia three years back. Jackson went to his room and started editing his next video to upload. After editing , he uploaded that. The praising comments humped. But though, a comment from a girl “ Leah” always making him feeling like flying in sky. He, every time after uploading his video, waiting for Leah's comment.The next day, he went to college. All the boys were unusual because a girl was joining new. She introduced her and her name was “ Leah”. Jackson's heart pounded. She too sighted him. She sat near Jackson. She asked him, “ Hey you are that ghost hunter, right?”

“ yes, and you are that Leah commenting my videos, right?”

She smiled at him . That evening , Jackson was looking for another haunted place for new video. When he came across an old , big house, something pulled his heart to get in( the same house that Jackson lived before but he forget that). He went in and turned on his camera and started exploring that house. He always goes solo. He found dry blood marks on the floor( it was his blood). He moved to store room, that painting was still there. The painting of headless man. Jackson took that and reminded the story behind this painting which his class girl told during seminar. He took that painting with him. At that time , his girlfriend Leah texted him ‘ can you come to my home'

‘ yeah, sure'.

Jackson went to Leah's house. She was alone at her home.

“ Hey Jack what is in your hands?” Leah asked.

“ Hey , this is mysterious painting, i will tell about it later" Jackson said.

“ Fine. I have called you because i felt lonely as my parents went for a important work" Leah said and looked Jackson's eyes.

“ I can help you” Jackson said and started romance.

After few hours , Jackson set off from there. He forget that painting in Leah's house. He called her through his mobile.

“ Hey Leah, I'm Jackson, i think i forget that painting there", Jackson said.

“ yes, it is here, i will bring it tommorrow”.......Love you", Leah said.

Jackson smiled and hanged up the call. Leah took that painting and went to backyard. She sat on the stairs and took pictures of that painting. Suddenly it started raining , the rain drops fell on the painting.But the painting didn't get perished. She got shocked. The rain almost wetted the painting. Leah took that inside and went to her bed. Her bed was near the window. She looked the rain through the window and started dreamed about Jackson. Suddenly the sky thundered. At that instant , the sky started raining red. Leah raised from her bed and looked the red rain. A shadow crossed her room. She ran out and looked around, she was scared.She heard terrible noises from other rooms of her house.She heard a car sound and she ran out. Her parents came home, she cried and told everything to them.

The next morning, Jackson went to college. Everyone were talking something. He went into his class and sat on his table. A girl came near him and said,

“ Don't you go there?”

“ where?”, Jackson asked.

“ oh! you don't know anything.”

“ What happened?” Jackson asked .

“ Leah was dead, her family too".

Jackson got shocked , his eyes were filled with tears. He went from there and went to Leah's house. The house was crowded with police and media. He ran in and looked, the house was flooded with blood. He bewildered. He saw that painting near Leah's bed. He took that in his hands and went out. The police asked,“ Hey,who are you?”

“ I'm Leah's friend",Jackson said.

“ ok, help us”, the police said and uncovered the white cloth from dead body. The body had no heads, all the bodies had no head. Jackson sat down with a terrrible shock. The police took him away from the bodies. After few minutes, he went to his home.His grandma called him.

“ Jack, what happened?”

“ Grandma... Leah... Leah...”, Jackson cried terribly.Grandma consolated him. He lyed in grandma's lap. At night , Jack was lying on his bed and looking through the windows and thinking about his memories with Leah. That night , it started raining again in red. The streets were empty. The cops were in night patrol.The red rain puzzled the cops. Suddenly a thuder striked and the heads of Leah and her family fell from the sky. The news spreaded like a fire. The next morning another family was found killed in the same way as Leah's family.Their heads were too missed. Then that night , it started raining again in red and the heads of that family too fell from the sky. The whole city was threatened. Everyone felt scared to stay at their own house. This happened spontaneously for three days. Katy went into Jackson's room. She found that painting in his room( she didn't lost her memory). She ran to her grandma and showed that to her. She got shocked and asked Katy, “ where did you find this?”

“ In Jackson's room”, she explained in sign language.

Grandma called Jackson in phone, he came home hurriedly.

“ Grandma , what happened?”

“ where did you find this?", grandma asked.

“ At the haunted house, i went for shoot", Jackson said.

“ Jackson, you killed Leah... you killed Leah”, grandma said.

“what?, me?”

“ Not only Leah, you killed many", grandma said. She reminded him all the things that happened in the past. Jackson felt guilt because he was the cause of death( that painting) of Leah and others. That night Jackson never thought that it would be the worst. He was lying on his bed. He heard screaming from grandma's room, he ran to her room. She was lying clinging to the floor, he turned her body, her head rolled separately from her body.He screamed ‘ grandma......’. Suddenly her body woke and put her hands in Jackson's shoulder. Jackson ran to his room, grandma's body slowly walked to upstairs,she had no head but she called Jackson' Dear, why are you hiding? I'm your lovely grandma". It laughed. It stepped into Jackson's room, went near him and raised the axe in her hands to cut his head. Jackson reminded something about his past, that day he saved Katy from that ghost. He climbed the bed and pushed that figure's neck . That figure felt bad and screamed terribly and threw Jackson from the floor to ground that day. He reminded that and did the same. The ghost came out from grandma's body and went disappeared. Grandma fell on the floor. She was dead already. Suddenly his room door locked, Katy was screaming. He took that painting in his hands and he reminded the word ‘ Make it unpure' in the walls of that old house. He took a knife from his packet and scratched his neck. He started bleeding, the blood from his neck ruined the painting and he fell on the painting . The painting got perished only the frame was left. Jackson fainted and that figure got vanished too. Katy came from her room and opened Jackson's room and took neighbours to help. They took Jackson to the hospital . Doctors saved his life.

A doctor went in. “ Jackson, how are you feeling now?”

“ Much better ", Jackson replied.

Katy got in and looked Jackson, she got scared and felt something strange about Jackson. Jackson was lying in the bed, suddenly he felt strange things in his body. His iris turned red, his sweat pores started bleeding blood, his head was sliding back. He was laughing, his teeth were black. He went near the window , jumped out and escaped. He went missed............... That night, Jackson was running into the forest , it started raining in red and grandma's head fell from the sky, Jackson took her head and................
