"Jimin i never been to a party before! The last party i went to was like in the third grade and that was a birthday party!" Ava whined to her best friend as he stood in the doorway of their shared apartment.
"It will be good for you trust me. Your a freshman in college. You should make new friends." Jimin knew ava already had trouble making friends back in high school and he was the only one shes had since middle school.
Jimin was currently going on his second year and already made tons of friends but it wasnt a surprise considering he was a social butterfly unlike ava whom struggled with anxiety and was very antisocial.
"Who wants a blind girl at their party?" She fell back on her bed dramatically covering her face with a pillow.
"Its a friend of mine. I told him i would bring you." He said nonchalantly as he started looking for an outfit for her to wear.
Ava was currently having a mini anxiety attack as her best friend just moved about rummaging through her closet.
"What if someone trips over my cane or something?" She was thinking of the worst scenarios that could happen which fueled to her current episode she was having.
"That wont happen. You dont need it. I'll be next to you the whole night—aha...here put this on." He threw the clothing on top of her.
"Im not goinggg." She threw it back at him.
"Yes. You. Are. Now stop being a baby and get changed. When your done ill be waiting in the living room. Im giving you 30 minutes top." He threw it back at her leaving out the room closing the door behind him.
Ava still layed there not moving.
"I dont hear any movement!" Jimin yelled from the other side of the door.
"Okay! Okay!" Finally giving in she got up to go shower really quickly.
Ava wasnt always blind. She became sick in middle school and her parents started noticing how hard it was for her to see things. When they took her to the doctors they found she had a serious infection in both her retinas.
(A/N: i am no expert in this so bare with me) Her vision was very cloudy and could only see movements but barely.
In school the kids would tease her and call her 'white cane girl' and take her cane but it stopped when park jimin moved into her neighborhood and started going to her school. He was made fun of too at one point when he started. The kids would call him racial slurs but he didn't stand for it and would simply put them in their place. He hated bullies and when he saw ava was a victim he befriended her and made sure no one messed with her.
So from that point on you could say jimin was avas' personal bodyguard. He encouraged her to do things that she never thought she would be able to do again and helped her alot considering she was struggling with her blindness.
It got better in high school eventually even after jimin graduated, everyone knew not to mess with her while he was gone. No one really understand how the two were the best of friends. They were complete opposites. Jimin was a huge flirt and ladys man and popular while ava was shy and quiet.

Pulling up to the house ava could already feel and hear the bass of the loud music. "Come on," jimin said and was already out the car before she knew it. Opening her door he stood there as she just sat there with her seatbelt still on.
"Ava."
"Just leave me in the car," she said as she twisted and turned the few rings on her fingers nervously.
"Absolutely not." He reached over her undoing the seatbelt. "I promise on my life i wont let anything happen to you. Aren't you always safe around me?"
She nodded lightly.
"Alright, so come on." Hesitating she finally got out and latched herself onto him. They began to walk towards the house.
"Theres three little steps," he told her so she wouldn't trip. If she had her cane she would know whats in front of her but for tonight jimin would have to take on the role.
Entering the house she felt swarms of bodies everywhere. Ava gripped jimins' forearm tighter as people were brushing past them as they moved more into the house.
"We wont stay in this part of the house for long. Im just going to grab us some drinks then head down to the basement." Jimin said and she just nodded.
Entering the kitchen jimin went in the cooler handing ava a wine cooler and got himself a beer.
They made there way to the basement door but ava stopped him.
"Why are we going to the basement?" She asked confused.
"Its more chill down there plus my friends are down there. Come on and watch your step okay." They slowly made their way down and ava could feel her palms start to sweat like crazy.
Reaching the bottom step jimin guided her to a couch to sit down.
"Wassup man, I didn't think youd make it tonight." Jinhyeong approached him dapping him up.
"Mmhct now you know I wouldn't miss one of your parties. Plus i told you i was bringing ava with me tonight." Jimin looked over his shoulder looking at the girl that sat there nervously twisting her rings sitting still as a statue.
"Ahh yeah I remember. Its nice to finally meet you ava im Jinhyeong but you can just call me jay. Jimin talks non stop about you." Ava just smiled.
"So you wanna play a round in pool?" Jimin asked Jinhyeong so it would be less awkward for the poor girl.
"Hell yeah, and you already know im betting." Jinhyeong made his way over to the pool table where a few others were at. The basement was spacious and renovated. Ava expected to be sitting on a dirty old beat up couch but from what she felt the seats were in good condition and the floorboards werent coming up.
"Im gonna be right across the room. Your sitting directly from me so i can see you. Is there anything you need?" She shook her head. Jimin looked around at the people who talked amongst themselves with their friends. He knew the atmosphere down here would be something she would be more comfortable in. There were fewer people and he knew almost everyone.
Ava sat there as he went over to the pool table and could hear him yelling to the boy about taking all of his money.
Not long she felt a dip in the couch beside her meaning someone had just sat down next to her. She gulped silently and took a sip of her wine cooler trying not to make it obvious she was nervous right now.
"You came to a party to sit alone like a robot?" The mystery guy asked her.
She shook her head.
"Hmm..not much of a talker i see." He examined her carefully. He had to admit she was beautiful. The way her big brown auburn curls shaped her face beautifully and a spray of freckles powdered her face. Her clothes didnt cling onto her body tight like most girls there tonight. She wore a simple orange and white top with white loose bottoms.
Now she wasn't really his type or the type of girls that he would hook up with but if a woman was gorgeous he was still simply attracted.
"I never seen you around before.."
Ava finally built up the little courage she had, "yeah, its my first week here."
"Ohh ok. Whats your major?" He tried to make small talk with her so she would feel more comfortable. When he came back from upstairs he noticed she was the only one sitting alone plus she had to know someone down here considering jay or himself didn't let most random people down there when they had functions.
"Studio Arts." She said quietly. She didn't really know why the guy randomly came up to here and started conversation with her but she forgot she was at a party so she just guessed thats what a normal person would do at a party, right?
He nodded, "same here, i do architect as well." They sat there for a moment quietly until a girl walked over standing in front of him crossing her arms. She looked at ava then at him.
"There you are, i was starting to think you left." The girl said.
"Why would i leave my own party?" He looked up at the girl already getting annoyed. Which the girl wasnt wrong. He would sometimes leave if he wasnt feeling it anymore. Just something he tended to do sometimes.
"Excuse me, im just going to go to the restroom," ava started getting up but didn't know there was a coffee table in front of her resulting in her tripping and spilling some of her drink on the girl. Luckily he caught her in time so she didn't fall flat on her face.
"What the hell, you blind or something?" The girl jumped back pinching her shirt where the spilled drink was on her.
"Im so sorry," ava frantically said trying to find the girl to assist the mess she just created.
He noticed she wasn't looking directly at her and watched her movements, thats when he realized she was in fact blind.
Jimin noticed the scene playing out and rushed over quickly over to avas' aid. "You okay? What happened?" He asked her checking her arms and face.
"Im the one over here with a drink spilled on me. This was a brand new shirt " The girl complained.
"Kim your acting like a baby its a small stain get over it," the boy said annoyed with her.
The girl angrily stomped away to go clean herself up.
"You okay ava?" Jimin asked once more to the girl.
"Ava? Oh shit this is ava jimin?" The boy asked.
"Yeah. I think we're going to head out. I'll see you tomorrow Jaewon." Before jaewon could ask anything else jimin was already leaving up the stairs with her.
Jaewon was close friends with jimin as well so he had heard alot about the girl along with jay. He didn't know she was going to be breathtaking.
The three boys hung out alot together and were known as the Big Three on the campus. Jimin already made a name for himself as soon as he got there and clicked with the two boys pretty fast. They were known for the wild parties they would throw and everyone knew how they were all ladys men. Everyone wanted them and wanted to be them. They simply had what you called the "J Effect".
Although they were all alike they were different too. Jaewon was the more laid back one and didn't really like to be the center of attention. He was more of an observer. His mystery aura made the girls swoon over him even more. He never was the one to do relationships and be committed to one person. He had a love for art and was very passionate about it.
Jay was the wild card and carefree one. He was a fuckboy. His parents were loaded with money so he practically got away with anything. He was a music major in fine arts as well.
Jimin also was in fine arts. He was a contemporary dancer. He was dancing since he could walk. Nothing stood between his love for dance. Thats how he pulled most girls. He was known to be a huge flirt and had a way of words that would have you in bed with him the same day.
The three of them were inseparable.
