Chapter 1
My Ex-Lover
When do we first believe in love?
Is it the sight of a favorite toy
The way the ice cream melts in your mouth
Or the way your heart speeds up at the sight of your first school crush
The word love touches the tip of my mouth and exits with the sweep of a breath
Just as quickly as it formed in my mouth
It left
There was no true moment I discovered I was in love
But my mind lays awake as I begin to notice when it escapes
Electricity runs through my veins as my blood runs cold and deep
The whites of my eyes run clearer as the tears create a shiny coat
The one I loved held me tight and another
My lips sit tight
And no longer could I tell you how much I love my other
