Prologue
The sound of patrol cars has woken up Emilia in her slumber. She realized she was lying here on muddy rice fields for god knows how long. All she knows is that she cannot move any part of her body as any movement brings out unbearable pain.
She does not remember why she is lying here or why her feet are currently bound. She does not know why her chest is oozing out with blood and why she was left here to die. All she could remember was a window and the terror it brought to her upon remembering it.
She saw two cops approach her but she could not properly see their faces due to blood blurring her vision. Her head must also be bleeding, she thought. Still, she knows what they are due to their uniform.
One of them touched her neck, making her whimper.
"She's alive!" he shouted. "Get the stretcher! Hurry!"
Suddenly, she felt her body was lifted in the air as she was placed in the stretcher and taken inside the ambulance.
"Hey, we got you okay?" the medical personnel said. "You are safe now."
Safe.
That word felt foreign to her ears. For a moment, she felt rage. How could she not? Safe is far from the situation she is in right now. The man in the window saw her. He will definitely find her. And when he does, he will definitely end her. She does not know why she knows it, but she knows it.
But no matter what, she is determined to live. If he is looking for her, she will be prepared.
She will definitely survive, these are her last thoughts before she finally succumb to sleep on her way to the hospital.
This is how Emilia Curtis, a 29 year old doctor, survived after the Riverwood serial killer failed to kill his eleventh victim.

omg, what a start!
