Good atmosphere
"I once studied under Chuck Palahniuk. Now there is a writer who loves the first person. And I think he made a really good point. If you do choose to use that style, force yourself to use, "I" as little as possible. The benefit of the first person is it puts you in the narrator's shoes. But if you start most sentences with, "I" it can take the reader out of the story. Maybe give it another try. I liked the revenge plot and the descriptions."
