Chapter 1
"I've spent my whole trying to find out who i am, but my biggest question is. Am i really a person, or a burden?"
Zue walked through the door with her luggages behind her. She stared around the house, it's been a while since she has been home. Home? Or maybe it's just a house. She has never really felt like this is a home, to her, it's just a house.
"Walk in Zue", Thomas said behind her. She turned to look at him, he's her dad. This man, her father, who has never really cared about her, who had intentionally hurt her snd claims it's a mistake, and he's sorry. She can see it in his eyes all the time, he's not sorry.
"I will", She said softly.
Zue walked in with her luggage. She made her way up the stairs, and into her room. She closed the door behind her and threw her luggage on the bed. She stared around her room, and then at the bed. She could still remember, those awful memories flashed in her head like images.
*Flashback*
"What are you doing?" Zue said and screamed."You're hurting me, please".
She felt him press her face on the pillow, pinned her hands to the bed and tied them with ropes.
"Please stop", She cried.
*Present*
A tear spilled from her eyes. She wiped it and opened her luggage. She took out her clothes and walked up to the wardrobe, and opened it. She walked back to her bed, and picked up her clothes one by one, and hanged them in the wardrobe.
She closed the luggage and put it in a corner in the room. She walked up to the curtain, and split it apart. She opened the window, and felt the breeze on her face. She loved it.
She looked out the window, and saw her mother and daughter. The mother is teaching her daughter how to ride a bike. This made Zue think about her mum. Her sweet mum, her loving mum. The only person who really loves her.
*Flashback*
"Mum i can't ride it properly", Zue said.
"I'm here my fairy", Ruby said."And i'll always be here".
"Promise?"Zue asked.
" I promise", Ruby said.
Zue kissed her cheek and smiled.
*Present*
"You didn't keep your promise mum", Zue asked."You lied to me, you left me all alone". She moved away from the window and let out a sigh. "The world is just too ugly for me, i can't survive in it, it's sucking me in, i feel breathless all the time".She wiped her tears."I want to be with you, i'm coming mum. I'll feel your hugs again, your warmth and love".
Zue was just seven years old when her mum died. It was the worst news ever, the person she loved the most in tbe world died. What makes it worse was the fact that she was pregnant. Zue would have had a sister, but everything happened so fast.
She didn't eat for days, and no one cared, not even her father. She didn't go to school for weeks.
Zue can still remember her smile, her face, her chuckle. Her hug, her care, her love. More tears spilled from her eyes.
"I'm going to die anytime from now", Zue said."And i can't wait for it, i can't".
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Zue immediately wiped her tears and let out a breath. She wondered what her dad wanted. She rolled her eyes and grumbled before she opened the door.
"What?"Zue asked sternly.
"Lunch", Thomas said.
"What can i do for you?" Zue asked.
"You should add "Sir" when you're addressing me", Thomas said.
Zue scoffed.
"I would have", Zue said."If you deserved it, but you don't".
"Come down for lunch", Thomas said.
"Is it good?" Zue asked.
" Isn't it always good?" Thomas said.
"That old yoruba cook makes awful food", Zue said."I don't want to take risks".
" I ordered pizza", Thomas said."Your favourite too, pepperoni".
Zue eyed him suspiciously.
"Why?"She asked.
"It's your favourite", Thomas said.
"Why?"Zue asked again, not convinced with his answer.
"I have not had pepperoni in a while", Tbomas said.
"That's what i thought", Zue said about to shut the door.
"Come down for lunch", Thomas interrupted.
"In a few minutes", Zue said about to shut tbe door again.
Thomas stopped it with his hand.
" Come down for lunch now", Thomas said sternly.
" No", Zue said sternly."Just leave me alone".
Thomas grabbed her by the neck and pinned her to the wall. He stared angrily at her. Zue felt breathless. She wished she could just die. Everything will be over, and she'll finally leave this awful world.
"I'm your father", Thomas said sternly. "You should give me the respect i deserve".
Zue smirked.
"Respect my foot", She said weakly.
Thomas tightened his grip on her neck.
"If you utter one more disrespectful word i will make sure you lose everything".
Zue smiled. A painful smile, the kind that breaks your heart."Someone who has lost everything has nothing to lose".
"You're a piece of trash", Thomas said coldly, with no emotions in his eyes except hatred, anger and disgust. "Good for nothing freak. You are not worthy of anyone".
He released his hands around her neck. She coughed, and he watched as Zue slowly sat on the floor, weak. He didn't seem to care, he hated her. She's just a burden to him, nothing more. And that's what she'll always be to him.
"Come down for lunch", Thomas said.
"What part of "NO" don't you get?" Zue asked and she let out light breaths.
"That's it" Thomas said and slapped her, hard. So hard that she bled. He suddenly pulled her by the legs which cane as a shock to Zue as she screamed.
He pulled her down the sstairs, her head hit the stairs hard, step by step, over and over, until she felt lost in pain.
As Thomas pulled her down the last step. She let out a weak breath and stared at him in the eyes. She knows he does not care about her. He's selfish, cruel, psychopathic and heartless. He has no real concern for her.
He pulled her up by her hair and pulled her into the kitchen.
"Aah!"Zue groaned in pain.
Thomas pushed her into the dining room and threw her on a dining chair. She slumped and hit her head on the tiles again. It hurt so much . She felt dead inside. She felt a trickle of blood at her backhead.
Zue wondered if the man standing is not her dad. 'How could he be so heartles? A father is meant to care and love, not have hatred.
Zue averted her eyes from him and looked at the ceiling. A small smile crept up on her face. She felt the whole world pressing in on her. Her brain registered one thing, death. She felt lifeless.
