Introduction
“Talk to me too. I’m his daughter. Whatever you want to say, say it to my face I can take it. How is my father?”
“Lauren dear, please let the doctor talk to us okay? Doctor Daniels, what’s the recent development, how was the surgery?”
“I’m really sorry ma’am, he lost a lot of blood before he was brought here. By the time he got here, there was barely a 5% chance of him surviving. I’m sorry Madam Lisa but Sir Abel Kingsman is dead.”
There and then, Lauren falls to the ground shaking violently.
“There’s no way. There’s no way in this world my father is dead.” She then pulls the legs of the doctor in tears.
“It has to be a mistake doctor. You’ve got the wrong patient. We’re asking about Abel Kingsman, my father. You’ve got it mixed up.”
“There’s no mistake child. I’m really sorry for your loss.” The doctor replies and then walks past her with pity.
The two women stayed still for a couple of minutes before Lisa falls to the ground. It’s really hard to believe that her brother is gone. She just lost her brother, her only brother, her only close relative left, her only sibling at that. It stings and it stings badly.
Lauren at the other hand, stares at no one in particular as tears drop down her eyes making her vision blurry. Her father’s gone. Gone forever. First it was her mother, now it’s her father, what did she do to deserve this at such age. She was only nine when she lost her mother to Ischemic heart disease. Her life at that point felt like hell now she’s reliving the same pain, this time double. Her dad was her everything. As a child, without her mother, her father was her mother and her father at the same time. Her whole world revolves around him and now he’s no more.
“He was murdered wasn’t he!” She screams at her aunt.
“Aunt Lisa, my dad was murdered wasn’t he? He was attacked wasn’t he? Dad lived a peaceful life. Why, why will such a thing happen to him? Why my dad of all people. He was very peaceful aunt Lisa. Why him?”
Aunt Lisa pulls Lauren to her chest. “Shush my child. It’s going to alright. Everything is going to be al- “
“No it’s not going to be alright. I’ve lost everything. My mum, my dad I have no one. He was killed and I’m sure of it. I’ll make sure to punish his killer sooner or later even if it’s the last thing I do.” She says amidst her tears.
“Don’t say that my love. I’m here for you, I’m not going anywhere trust me.”
Together they sat on the floor hugging each other in tears.
