Tragedy in the Martin Manor
The party dedicated to the success of Mr. Martin Parker’s latest book is over, and the entire Martin Manor has gone to sleep except its central room, the room of the owner of the Manor, Martin Parker. Every night since twenty-five years, the lights of this room have gone off exactly at 9:30 pm, but this night, they have gone off at 10.
The next day, Ms. Bessie prepares the usual breakfast for her master, a veggie omelet with a side of whole-grained toast. She goes to his room and knocks on his door, expecting to hear the friendly "Come in!" But to her surprise, she gets no response. "I guess the party exhausted Mr. Parker, he really worked himself up last night." She tells herself. With the breakfast tray in her hand, she opens the door using her feet. As the door swings open, Ms. Bessie's blood runs cold.
Her body flinches and the tray with the freshly made breakfast falls on the floor, the hot tea burns her feet but it does not affect her due to the shock of what she has just witnessed in front of her. She scrambles backwards, choking on her own breath as her eyes are locked into the lifeless stare of the dead body before her.
The daily news paper's front page reads, 'At 10:00 am Sunday morning, country-famous novelist Martin Parker has officially been pronounced dead.'
