Finally, after nothing but class lectures and textbook learning, we’ll get to actually train. It’s pure luck that I was able to join the best school there is but it was hard work that allowed me to pass the exams and tests. All I have to do is prove I can handle the job and get put in a good team. There’s nothing that can stand in my way.
#All students report to the roll call hall. All students report to the roll call hall.#
I couldn’t have gotten out of my room fast enough; I quickly sprinted through the dorms and down the stairs.
“Coming through!” Yelled a guy gaining up behind me before I realized what was happening. He didn’t even slow down for the steps, he just jumped down each flight. He was like a toddler on ten cans of energy drinks; he could outrun a car if he wanted to.
I finally made it out of breath and on the verge of passing out. There were two other people there, both having a conversation. How the heck was neither of them tired, that guy was running at 90 mph without breaking a sweat. The girl he was talking to sleep in the dorms at the very top of the building so how is she here before me?
After a nice drink of water from the fountain, two other guys came down the stairs. One looked like someone pissed in his cereal and the other looked like a teen just getting out of bed. When the four of them meet eye contact, the room went dead silent and the tension could choke someone.
“Ha! we made it before you, so much for being the top two in the academy!” Said the guy who ran down here. He was white, tall, lean like a green bean, and had blonde with dyed blue-purple hair. He wore a shit eating grin and looked like he was high as a kite.
“Not now Austin, we don’t need to cause trouble.” The girl who was talking to him said while pulling his ear. She was almost just as tall as him and had black hair with the lower half dyed like his. She was more dark skin and kept an intimidating look on her face.
Wait did he just say top two in the academy? I can understand the big scary guy, but what about the high schooler?
“I don’t argue with wannabe space “heroes” that think it’s a game.” The tall angry guy said. He was taller than the commanders and captains with a short military haircut. He was by far the best built and muscular place. He was more light skinned than the girl but he also had the intimidation.
I guess his insult triggered this Austin guy because he went on a raging tantrum trying to fight him. Meanwhile, the other two reminded civil and respectfully greeted each other. I was debating on what I should do, I can’t just let them ignore my presence.
“I AM MIKE HUDSON, FELLOW STUDENT AND RANK 156 ON THE MOST RECENT EXAM!” I yelled out loud to finally get their attention. The two guys finally stopped fighting while the other two went up to talk to me.
“I’m Sarah Miller and the idiot is my friend Austin.” The girl introduced herself, suddenly not looking as intimidating. I’ve heard a bit about her, she managed to rank in the top 50 and she’s one of the most popular girls here.
“And I’m Link, that’s my stepbrother Philip over there. You probably heard the rumors of the 16 year old student, that’s me.” He said with a soft yawn. He was a short, skinny, and very pale kid with messy hair. He didn’t even have his uniform on nicely; it’s like he still needs his mom to dress him.
I never thought the rumors were true, I thought the whole rank 1 student being a child was a joke to motivate us to do better. How did he even get in here, we adults had a hard enough time getting in.
Before I could ask questions, the rest of the students came to the hall and the commanders came along with the captains. We all lined up as they started doing roll call. After it was over the Head chief entered to give the news of why we were here.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we are here to congratulate you on completing the exams and making it this far. Now is where the real learning begins. From now on you all are promoted to cadets.” He proclaimed to everyone in the room with a look of approval.
The crowd of students erupted in cheer and happiness. Everyone was high-fiving and hugging each other, some even crying tears of joy. You would’ve thought that we all won a trillion dollars; all of the excitement was overwhelming yet it felt well deserved.
After they settled us down, they announced there would be new classes. They handed everyone new schedules and released us go to the dining hall. I don’t know it was the excitement from earlier, but the food tasted at least ten times better.
Later that day, I was relaxing in my dorm when I heard a knock at my door. It was unusual since I didn’t talk to anyone and everyone barely knows me. I opened my door only to find a guy that looked fresh outta high school. Don’t tell me that they just let anyone in here.
He was an average height Hispanic with curly black hair with a bit of chin hair. He was lean like Austin but actually had meat on his bones. I instantly felt some type of way, but I couldn’t describe it.
“I’m Marco Prats, my dorm gotten changed and they told me to come here. This is dorm 483 right?” He asked checking his papers again.
“Yeah come in and get settled, I hope you don’t mind the right side of the room.”
He got unpacked and settled in a matter of minutes. I continued to enjoy the day off and excitedly waited for training tomorrow.
