Prologue
She was a young girl, her eyes beaming with countless innocent dreams like every girl in her teens. Hailing from a Jewish family and belonging to a community fighting hard for their right while fearing for their lives at every passing moment she was unaware of what lies in her future. Everyone was living a peaceful life until the Germans decided to pledge a war against superpowers and went on mass destruction that initiated what is known today as WWII. From concentration camps to forced labor and being evicted from the houses they once built with love and dreamed of a secure future was now turning into ashes.
Adele Adler had many dreams, one of them being a school teacher like her mother. Both her parents were loving teachers imparting knowledge and values to the upcoming generations. Adele was in the last year of her school, and like her mother, she too had dreams of falling in love, getting married, and live a blissful life and a happily ever after. Little did she know that her perception of a normal life will soon be over, and death will chase her entire community like a shadow. Wars are brutal and the atrocities it brings with it, remain imprinted on our minds for the rest of our lives. Adele's life was going to take some unexpected turn that will change her life forever.
Falling in love was her dream but falling in love with a German soldier was something that was unbeknownst. Imagine being in love with the person who gets commands to kill your kind or arrest them just to make them face the horrors of concentration camps where every breath becomes a burden and you wish for a quick death as it seems more comforting than bearing the harshness of the concentration camp.
Somewhere in Germany, a young and enthusiastic 20-year-old Christian German boy was busy studying electrical engineering. Being the youngest son of the family, he chose not to join his family's baking business. Still, he focused on following his passion for understanding communication gadgets.
Markus Winkler is a shy boy with no friends. Nobody has seen him talking or interacting much with people around him except for his friend Christoph. However, their friendship was strong, and the bond they had was important to them.
Paving his way towards his passion of being an engineer, young Markus was unaware of what lay ahead.
