Part One: Running Free
“Ladies and gentlemen! This is Central News, Dawn Reed reporting live from above the Living Center downtown!” A woman with bright blonde hair stood on the roof of the tall living center in the middle of the city. “Tonight we have some shocking news. A New Villain has made the headlines. So far we have not been given a name or description of the person, but we know this: Some very powerful equipment has been stolen from the headquarters of the Hero Committee and has yet to be retrieved. All over the city Heroes are scouring about looking for this thief. If you have any reports of suspicious behavior please report it to officials.” The wind blew the woman’s hair every which way, but somehow she stayed professional. “This is Dawn Reed at Central News signing off! Good night folks- Wait! What’s that over there!”
The sound of her bright red converse tapped against the flat roof of the building. Adrenaline coursed through her veins, her lungs were filled with icy air as the wind blew in her face. Her heart thundered in her chest, but she had to keep running. She was racing against time. She grasped one of the most wanted items in the entire world as she ran through the night, trying to avoid the eye of Heroes. Her luck betrayed her like usual when a video camera had pointed her way.“There! On the roof!” One shouted. She turned to find six different Heroes checking the city screens nearby and they turned and looked in her direction, spotted her, then ran forward to try and catch the young Vigilante. She jumped from roof to roof to escape the camera view. She jumped from a roof when she decided she was safe. She landed on a fire escape underneath, nearly missing and almost falling to her death. She scrambled inside of the building through the emergency exit door. She turned and slammed into the chest of the number one Hero Shade. “Woah. Watch it kid- Wait. It’s you!” His eyes locked onto the glowing device in her hands. She jumped out of the door and slammed it behind her. She scrambled up the fire escape to the roof. Heroes were all around the city, some spotting her after Shade had probably exposed her location through the fancy communication system they had. Different Heroes raced over the rooftops to catch her but she was faster than they knew. Sprinting above the city, always about to fall. Dangling over the moving cars and hundreds of people each time her grappling hook snagged another building’s roof. Always pressing the retract button shooting herself up right before a hero captured her. Always coming close to being knocked over the side of the building, retracting each time higher and higher until she had nowhere else to go. She had reached the tallest building in the area. She broke the window her grappling hook had latched onto the sill of. The glass fell towards the city streets at a dizzying speed, mesmerizing her as she watched it fall. She jumped inside and found the stairway to the roof of the office building. Climbing as her chest heaved and clunky boots echoing underneath her. She had climbed to the top and was met with a door with a bright red exit sign above it. She swung it open, clutching her side which had been burning with pins and needles. She walked out onto the rooftop, holding the device in one hand and her side in the other. She had just reached the middle of the roof before the door slammed open again. An entire team of Heroes behind her. “STOP!” One shouted with a black mask. “Hand it over and you don’t get hurt.” She turned to face about 10 Heroes. Inching back slowly. “Come on, none of us want to fight.” Another pushed. Slowly she stepped onto the edge. Some of them tried to stop her,but she held the weapon over the edge. "One move and I drop it!" She threatened. “Get down kid, you don’t know what you’re doing.” the one with the black mask spoke. She stood on the ledge and just she smirked at the wide eyed Heroes. The Wind whipped her hair around her face, stinging her skin. She turned and glanced at the bright city lights below, making an ocean of fireflies. It all tempted her. She stood on the edge, swaying with the wild wind. “GET DOWN!” The one with a black mask yelled. She smugly grinned and flipped every last one of them off before leaning back and falling against the wind, watching the Heroes scramble towards the edge, seconds too late to catch her. They could only helplessly watch her tumble to the ground, the small device glowing in her hands. They blinked and suddenly she was gone.
Some panicked at the missing girl. She had to be down on the streets. Probably dead. They needed to get down there before they had the weapon stolen again.
Helicopters swarmed the skies trying to find the stolen equipment. Heroes were on the lookout for the body of the new villain. Little did they know that the villain they were looking for was a 16 year old girl named Robyn Green who had some beef with the Hero Committee.
