Chapter 1
Tyler sat in his overly spacious office staring out the large bay window.Almost as if he was in a trance,which was an absurd notion considering he was one of the strongest vampires in their pack.Tyler put people in trances(to make them forget)he wasn't hypnotized.But still here he sat,yet another day almost done and he had yet to find his perfect mate.His brother Chase told him he was just being too picky.Chase would tease him time and time again"Come on Tyler you can lead the pack and be big time CEO of your company,but you can't find your true mate."This always annoyed Tyler more than it probably was meant to.He would always answer back"Well Chase you see I need to be a bit picky I would think since this is the one person that I am going to spend eternity with."And to the point that he built a successful marketing firm and cohabited with humans for centuries now,but he could find one girl to spend side by side with for the rest of all time.Tyler had been so lost in his own thoughts that he almost didn't hear his secretary Stephanie knocking on his office door.Stephanie knew Tyler well in fact she was married to his brother Chase.Tyler was snapped back to reality when the door opened and Stephanie walked in.
Tyler pull yourself together I have been knocking and calling you for five minutes.Stephanie looked at Tyler rolled her eyes and said"Get it together your three o'clock interview is here and she looks like someone who could keep you on your toes.And she is a pretty little thing too."Tyler scoffed at her words and replied"Honestly Steph your beginning to sound just like Chase.Now please go and make yourself useful and show Ms. Colson in please would you?"With that Stephanie chuckled and went to show the lady in.
Amber Colson walked into Tyler's office with her head held high and a look of pure confidence on her face.Tyler hadn't seen that much confidence in someone well since he was just building the company."Good afternoon Ms. Colson,please have a seat,welcome to Twilight Marketing.It's a pleasure to meet you.I am Tyler Pierce the CEO."Amber stepped forward to shake Tyler's hand never once losing eye contact.He was indeed impressed,most people,women especially were usually a bit intimidated by him.As Amber took a seat across from Tyler's she noticed for the first time just what she was up against not only was he intelligent but he wasn't bad on the eyes either.Amber was brought back to reality by the deep sound of his voice."So Ms. Colson, you have a very impressive resume.I know what we would be gaining by you coming to work here for us, but what is it exactly that you would be gaining?"Amber put on her biggest,brightest smile she could and told him quite blatantly"Well that is the easiest question I will be asked all day Mr. Pierce you see you are not the only person with big dreams and aspirations.I don't always want to be the little fish in the big pond,I want to be the great big shark one day as well.But in order to accomplish that I need a foundation or a stepping stone if you will.And why not take the opportunity to work for the best marketing mind in the business."When Tyler heard her answer he smiled at her acknowledged her compliment towards not only himself but to the company he built as well."Thank you Ms. Colson the fact that you are not only smart and very well at your job from what I have read in your resume and reports from previous clients.But apparently can appreciate hard work and dedication and a winning team when you see one."Amber smiled and kept eye contact with Tyler as she thought very silently to herself"Man this guy is cocky."Tyler asked Amber if she had any questions for him.She told him no,because she thought that asking if he was single would in fact not be a good move before she actually had the job.Tyler stood up and said"Well Ms. Colson after speaking to you and upon further reviewing your knowledge and skills I would like to welcome you aboard as senior marketing director of your new department.Now if you will walk with me I will take you to your new office.When are you available to start?"Amber was so excited she needed to calm her inner self before answering.Not feeling as flustered she answered"Is tomorrow too soon?"While Tyler was screaming the opposite on the inside he smiled and said "Not at all"On the way out of the office Tyler told his secretary"Oh Stephanie will you please contact HR and tell them to have the paper work ready for Ms. Colson to sign tomorrow when she begins work.I am going to show her where her office is so please hold all calls."Stephanie smiled at Tyler and gave a very muffled chuckle and replied"Yes sir."and she watched them walk away laughing to herself because she had never seen Tyler Pierce personally show anyone to their new office.
Tyler and Amber took the elevator down two floors and he led her to a small office but she noticed that it had an amazing view."Mr. Pierce do all of your offices have this wonderful view or am I just one of the lucky ones?"Amber heard a chuckle as she finished her question coming from behind her.Tyler knew immediately who it was and he was none too happy."I would venture to say that you are one of the lucky one's miss,considering I am his brother and my office view is not that good."Tyler answered in return"Chase that is because it would be wasted on you because you are hardly ever in your office since you make your own schedule these days it seems.Ms. Colson this is my pestering brother Chase,he works in this department he is one of the heads as you will be but you will have different teams."Chase laughed at his ever cocky brother,"Ms. Colson was it well it is a pleasure to meet you,and I would say you were real lucky today because my big brother here never takes time out to show anyone to their office.And I am only a pest if I don't like you,and I am sure that that isn't possible with a beautiful women like you."Tyler put his hand on Chase's back and said"Don't you have a job you could probably be doing?"Chase shook Amber's hand and said"Well that is my cue to make my exit,don't want to get on the boss's bad side I hear he can be a real tyrant,I look forward to working with you."Amber said"It was nice meeting and I look forward to working with you too."And with that Chase was gone as fast as he had appeared.Tyler quickly looked at Amber's face to try and gauge her reaction,she wasn't letting much out on her face."Ms. Colson I apologize for my brother Chase he tends to think everything in life is lighthearted.I hope you wont think to badly of him and wont let it affect your choice to work here.""Mr. Pierce it would take more than your brother trying to tease you to change my mind about working for your company,besides I found the gesture rather cute."Tyler laughed himself at this"I can assure you that it is in fact not cute although his wife Stephanie whom you met earlier would probably agree with you."Amber was the one to laugh this time"A real family affair around here isn't it?"Tyler nodded in agreement.The two said their good byes and Amber assured him that she would be here tomorrow morning and she went on her way.
Tyler returned to his office where he figured that Chase would no doubt be waiting for him.As Tyler exited the elevator he couldn't help but laugh to himself as he heard that familiar voice coming from outside his office." Well you sure don't disappoint little brother I told myself that I was going to find you here when I returned.And here you are."Chase laughed at Tyler and Stephanie just shook her head at him.Chase said"Well I wouldn't want to let you down after all big brother."Stephanie felt the need to try and rescue Chase from Tyler's wrath"Chase just brought me up a cup of coffee,he was just leaving."Tyler laughed and said"Well don't leave on my account you know I just work here apparently."Chase looked at his older brother with a smirk on his face"No seriously big bro, why the personal tour for the new girl?Could it possibly be that you found her as hot as the rest of us did?""Chase she was here for a job interview to think about anything else concerning her would be unethical."Chase was the one laughing now"And we know Tyler that you never do anything that goes against the grain.But seriously she was hot and you are going to spend eternity alone if you don't find someone at work since you never leave this office."Stephanie took that as her cue"Chase honey why don't you go and finish up and I will meet you downstairs in an hour to go home."Chase rolled his eyes at her and left the office.When Chase was gone and out of earshot she said" Tyler why do you let him get to you,you know he love's to tease you?But why did you show the new hottie around?"Tyler grimaced and said"You too now Stephanie,can't I just have wanted to be a nice boss."Stephanie laughed at Tyler and watched him go into his office and close the door.Tyler sat in his office glaring out the window for well into the night.He found himself thinking exactly what he knew he shouldn't but the fact still remained that his brother and Stephanie were right Amber Colson was hot and he was doomed.
