My parents had made a decision long ago that I wish they had never made. I was their only child and I fell ill and was near death. They prayed for me to get better but it was no use because I was slipping away.
I was my mother's only child and so the only heir to the kingdom they had built. They sought answers from all kinds as to how to heal me but no one possessed the power to stop death. Or so they thought....
Seeing a chance at wealth and the possibility of abusing my parent's desperation a powerful being approached them. They had said that she was beautiful... a truly enchanting woman. She said she could cure me but there would be a price.
My parents listened to what she had to say but they had already made the decision. They wanted me to live and they would do anything to save me.
The woman had saved me but she had also cursed me in many ways... I was transformed into a monster with no relflection. I was part vampire, needing to feed on other's blood... an urge that was strong but could be controlled. I also was given immortality, no matter how hard I tried I could not die. Then there was the physical appearance... while most vampires are gorgeous with pale skin and sharp features I had been given markings of sorts. There were deep gashes along my skin as if I had been sliced by a sword, only the cut looking marks were filled with silver. There were also black tattoo like markings from my head to my toes that could not be removed. Thankfully my face only contained one black marking that curled across my cheek and down my neck and a small silver slash on my forehead. I did resemble the body of a human, but larger. Standing at 7ft tall and hulking muscles across my body.
I would never be able to have children, not that any woman would ever want to lay with me anyways when I looked like this.
I had been given a few abilities as well, such as glimpses of the future and the ability to see anywhere in the world through my mind.
I could not turn others into my kind but I could turn them into vampires. The bite would steal the life from their body and transform them while leaving a black mark on them where my teeth had met their skin. I was warned of this and told never to bite anyone because there could be other foreseen consequences.
The other part of me that was not vampire was somewhat complicated. It gave me these large muscles and my tall figure but it also gave me a craving to be with a partner. It was as if there was a voice in my head, a separate part of me that lead me to desire certain things, a mate if you will. That being is trapped within my mind and I was given a black amulet, that was attached to my chest. The amulet kept the creature inside me from being unleashed but it could not completely block it out.
It had told me it's name was Saul and it would be with me for eternity. It had strong emotions anddstrong drive to get what it wanted but it would never reveal it's full self to me... unless the amulet was removed. It told me that it was my friend and that I could trust it.
Of course the powerful woman was paid handsomely for this transformation and my parents were grateful, so much so that they promised her their souls when they died. They did die... they aged as a normal human would and passed away. I saw their souls in the form of white orbs that floated away to the woman. I would never forget the sight of their death for as long as I lived.... which would be forever. I was only a boy, 10, at the age of their death.
I had fully matured at 18 and taken the form I would be in forever. I had thick black hair and reddish orange eyes. They added to my gruesome appearance.
My parents had trained me never to leave the castle and never to interact with anyone or I could kill them by accident with my strength or I would feed on their blood.
So I had servants... they looked after everything and left food at my door. They would often leave meat and the blood from it as well as vegetables and more normal human food.
I would leave them notes when I finished my food, warning them where I would be in the castle if I left my room. It was normally the library or the green room. I was learning how to make healing tonics and other medicinal tricks.
I had not had a vision in years and I had not been around anyone since my parents died. That was decades ago....
The loneliness drove me crazy, only Saul in my head to keep me company and even then we wouldn't always talk. He had given up trying to get me to leave the castle and find a partner. I refused to be seen by anyone....
I tried to take my life several times but nothing happened. I would feel the pain from it but nothing else. My pale skin would close up and the silver gashes would glow a bit, signalling I was healed.
It was all a curse... a curse that I had no say in as a babe. They should have just let me die, it would have been better for everyone. Because of their selfishness I was doomed to stay like this forever.
I knew things would never be different after a couple of the servants had stolen a glance at me. They crapped themselves in fear and started crying at my monsterous appearance. They put in their leave after that which I of course approved. I had many servants over the years... they were paid well and kept to themselves but they were not prisoners here like I am.
Many of them got old and retired or quit early into the job. They didn't understand why I never joined them and the ones who did were scarred for life.
I started keeping journals to let out what I was feeling and it helped... they lined several book cases and were in piles around the room. Sometimes I would read them again just to remember something.
I also had the servants make me a cloak... black... with a hood. That way if someone were to see me by accident I would be covered. But I still didn't like to risk going out in the halls.
