The Story Earns It
"I went into this not knowing what to expect and came out genuinely surprised — and I mean that as a compliment. The premise alone earns points. The female lead is an intimacy facilitator operating as a sideline to her personal shopping business, and the author handles that angle with real warmth and intelligence. This isn't a book about a sex worker in the sensationalized sense. It's about a woman who genuinely cares about her clients, reads their emotional state, and sometimes ends up holding their hand through something they didn't know they needed. The chapter with Gwen at the bar is quietly excellent. The chapter with Sarah is handled with more tenderness than most literary fiction would manage. The female lead herself is a fascinating narrator. She's in a polyamorous household, doing things for the people she loves that cost her something, carrying feelings she doesn't always examine too closely. There's real interiority there. And then the Billy thread pulls everything together mid-book in a way I did not see coming. Same man, two women, and our lead realizing she may have accidentally lit the fuse. That's genuine plotting. Here's my one honest note: the prose has two personalities, and they don't always coexist peacefully. Most of the writing is clean, readable, and effective, and then without warning the author reaches for a vocabulary that feels more clinical or academic than the scene around it. Mid-intimacy, mid-emotion, a word lands that belongs in a medical journal or a Shakespearean footnote, and it yanks you right out of a moment that was otherwise working. The story doesn't need it. It's strong enough on its own terms. I'll read more books from this author, Good Book, Read it. "

Additionally, a more attractive cover and a different title could better reflect the intensity and originality of the story. Even so, it remains a compelling read that leaves a strong impression."
