Prologue

“Boom!”

The final bolt of lightning had struck and Goro awakened. Rolling lazily from side to side a little more, he finally got up.

For the life of him, he could not figure out why he was suddenly up so early. The storms were a frequent occurrence here, and he got used to their rumble, and yet…

Emerging from the cave, he found himself on the sleep slope of the mountain. The final raindrops were finishing their fall, and soon the dawn came up from the clouds.

Suddenly he felt unease. It was as if a mysterious force had given him an impulse: something had changed. He did not know how he figured it out, yet he knew that for a fact. Probably it was a premonition. No, that wasn`t it… he had just spent so much time on this island that he knew when he heard an alien noise or felt an alien smell.

He took a good look from the top of the mountain and… there it was: a boat.

He spat on the ground. He was furious. When would humans leave his island alone? How long would this go on!?

Infuriated, he decided to explore the island. However, before he even reached the boat, Goro found its owner… sleeping under the tree… all alone. But it was not a peaceful dream: he was clearly in trouble… there was a clear expression of anxiety and fear on his face. It wasn`t yet another tourist.

Suddenly all the anger vanished from Goro. For a moment he hesitated. How exactly should he approach the situation?

‘Maybe… he needs help? He… doesn’t look just like an ordinary tourist…’

‘No… what am I even thinking about. This is my territory. I should not let anyone else be here!’

‘And yet…’

‘What… should I do?’

Failing to decide which voice he should listen to, he, nevertheless, decided to take the first step… a step towards the young man.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
