736 Meditation Lane
I’m ghost hunter Airon, a worker for G.H.C also known as Ghost Hunting Corporation. Ghost activities are so common to the point that we became the new 911. You’re probably thinking, “Oh how bad can a ghost be? It’s not like it can touch you.” But if you even think about having that mindset, then you should be Mr. Badass and take care of it yourself. This isn’t ghostbusters where you can just suck the ghost in a vacuum; we ghost hunters are specially trained to pinpoint, control, and exorcise the ghost. It’s an honor to work to get rid of these nightmarish creatures, but I never expected to rely on one.
It was a normal work night at work; I had one last house to deal with. It was a level 7 ghost which is a bit low for my work status, but from the description, it seems like the ghost is as hostile as a level 3 and as active as a level 10. That’s slightly unusual since weak ones are rarely this active. I arrived at the house on Meditation Lane and was expecting someone my status from another district, but apparently, they thought this mission was easy.
“Oh..umm...I’m Craig the new trainee! You must be..um..” The young man stuttered annoyingly.
“Ghosthunter Airon, listen this is a ghost too difficult for you. Just watch through the window.”
“W-what?! How am I supposed to learn from outside the house?” He whined like an entitled child being told no.
“Listen I’m here to exorcise and get home as fast as possible, not babysit a whiny trainee fresh out of class.”
I wasn’t in the mood to deal with him; it’s not like G.H.I can afford to fire their best ghost hunter. I entered the property and was greeted by the lights flickering intensely, almost as if the ghost was trying to give me a seizure. It’s just wasting its energy since I have to turn off the breaker anyway. I sent Craig to the basement since he wanted to help so bad and went to the truck to gather equipment. I could see through the windows and the lights were all out; at least he knew how to turn off the breaker. But to my surprise, when I came back in they were still flickering while Craig stood there dumbfounded.
“You complained about wanting to help, yet you can't turn off the damn breaker.”
“N-n-no you don’t understand; it is off! I-i turned off the power to the whole house!” He tried to explain while trembling.
I was beyond annoyed at this point; I just wanted to get this over with to enjoy dinner with my family. I told Craig to be useful and get the rest of the equipment while I went and dealt with the breaker myself. I went down into the basement and open the breaker. It felt like my heart stopped working and the pressure of the house was on me. This never happened to me in my entire career. If I experienced this during my earlier years, then I would’ve quit on the spot.
The breaker was off, every switch was flipped, yet I could see the lights flickering from above. I needed to test something. I ran up the stairs and outside to where Craig was and looked at the windows and the doorway. Craig must’ve noticed the same thing because it looked like he was close to pissing himself. We can’t see the lights through the window, but we could through the doorway.
This was the first time I saw a ghost act like this, but I knew that it could easily become hostile if not taken care of. I calmed myself down and dragged the still terrified Craig inside. We set up cameras and, against my better judgment, agreed that Craig handed the neutrino gun. I turned on the EMF reader and I quickly got some activity, but something was off. I could feel the air getting colder and the EMF reader slowly went up when I started moving. Eventually going all the way to 5 when I stopped a mirror.
Craig had his body cam on and was recording, besides that all he did was jump whenever he thought there would be a jump scare or something. I told him to pass me the rest of the equipment, but I noticed he stopped responding and was just staring at me.
“Earth to Craig, hurry up so we can catch this thing.”
“G-g-ghost...”
“Yeah that’s our job, anything else Mr. Obvious?”
“GHOST!!!”
I went from confused to horrified in less than a second. Every bone and muscle in my body stopped working as something grabbed my arm. I knew death was always close, but I didn’t expect to accept it so soon. I guess Craig thought it was some hero moment because he pointed the right at me. Then before I knew it, the shock from the laser hitting me and whatever grabbed me hit us. Then it faded to black.
I slowly opened my eyes to see a white ceiling of a hospital. I was able to move with only minor soreness, and my head was pounding. I was sharing the room with a woman, who looked like she was in her twenties, who was sleeping.
“Airon you’re awake!” Craig said as he rushed in.
“Quiet, it’ll be rude to wake her up.” I said pointing at the woman. Craig looked at the bed in confusion and looked back at me.
“Airon..there’s no one there.”
