The helicopter had not fully landed when Lan Wangji jumped from it, and he commanded all the shadow guards to enter the warehouse with caution. All of them quickly had done some quick reconnaissance and deemed it was safe to enter, when they heard the sound of bikes from the woods. Lan Wangji gestured to the men to follow the sound while he entered the building and found Xue Qing, bleeding from the gut. He quickly told Song Lan to get her to Dr. Xue, when she suddenly grabbed Lan Wangji’s shirt.

“Mo… Xuanyu… she took her… back, outside…” She was having difficulty breathing but she was adamant to tell Lan Wangji, who nodded and said, “Thank you.” Then Lan Wangji ran outside.

Song Lan quickly brought Xue Qing outside, while whispering to her, “Good job, Xue Qing. Now don’t you go and die on me, or I’ll revive you and then kill you myself.” Xue Qing laughed and then she coughed blood, which hastened Song Lan to find help.

Lan Wangji moved like a wind to the back door, and quickly observed his surroundings. There was no way that Meng Airan took Wei Wuxian to leave with her, and there was no other hiding place, unless…

He saw the pond.

It was not big, but it looked deep, and there were still ripples and small bubbles of air on its surface near the center where it was deepest.

Xie Lian watched Lan Wangji dove into the cold pond from where he was standing, and he sighed heavily.

“Aish, young love… so impatient.” He rolled his eyes, and tsk tsk-ing in the manner of an old man, although he was not that much older than Lan Wangji and the original Wei Wuxian. He did not want the both of them to get cold when they surfaced, so he told Feng Xin to grab some supplies and hot drinks.

“Feng Xin, grab a few blankets and hot tea from the chopper, Mu Qing, tell the pilot to prepare to leave immediately. After that, find Dr. Xue and take him with us, and other patients if there are any.”

After giving orders, Xie Lian waited for both Lan Wangji and his cousin to surface. It would not take long now, judging how much the capacity of the human lungs could hold air inside. He looked at his Patek Philippe, and started the countdown.

Wei Wuxian was in some kind of lucid dream, where he thought he was dreaming, or dying more likely, and suddenly he saw that bright light, and he was yanked out of the cold water like a rag doll. Not a few seconds later, he was outside breathing the cold, fresh air again, gasping as much as he could before he coughed like a madman.

“Holy Jesus, is that you?” He coughed for a while, then continued, “or was it you, Satan? Not today please, I still haven’t done a threesome yet…” he coughed again and wheezed hard.

“It’s amazing how you’re still able to make jokes like that in the brink of the death, Wei Ying. ” Lan Wangji dropped his body down on the grass just beside his, and he also wheezed. “And threesome ? What the hell are you doing here?” Wei Wuxian was trying to stand up, but he was grabbed by Lan Wangji from behind.

“Wei Ying… you scared me to death, you know that?” He buried his face in the nape of Wei Wuxian’s neck, just as he usually did, and he held onto Wei Wuxian’s body tight.

“Did you just call me Wei Ying?” Wei Wuxian tried to turn his head back but he heard a loud crack from somewhere in his body. “Fuck, I think I broke something. Or was it you, Lan Zhan? Please let me go before you destroy my body and send my soul out to look for another one.” Wei Wuxian tried to wriggle out of Lan Wangji’s embrace without much success since the man was unwilling to let go even for one second.

Lan Wangji looked at Wei Wuxian in disdain. This was not the reunion he had hoped to have. He had expected tears, gratitude, a hug, and a kiss. Probably more, later. Not a scolding and a sarcastic remark. But this was the old Wei Wuxian that he knew and loved, so he was glad anyway that he was still alive. At least his soul was still alive and kicking and as fierce as he was when he’s in his original body.

Xie Lian then laughed out loud.

“Xianxian, you’re being your obnoxious self as usual. But please, stop moving. Your body has already passed its due date. You can not handle another death experience.” Xie Lian then scooted down to examine Wei Wuxian’s body like he was searching for something.

“Can’t we just use the nanobots like what Chen Yu did the last time?” Lan Wangji asked Xie Lian while still refusing to let Wei Wuxian go out of his embrace. Wei Wuxian finally relented and he leaned his fragile body to Lan Wangji’s hard one.

“Mm, you can, but it won’t repair the already dead body, you know that right?” Xie Lian groped Wei Wuxian’s neck, then his head, then he smiled. “Eureka, I found it. Be thankful I don’t need to strip search you.”

“Found what?” Wei Wuxian tried to get out of Xie Lian’s tight hold to no avail. “And why would you strip search me? Hey there Feng Xin, Mu Qing.” The two men were amused, seeing Young Master Wei behaved like a spoiled child in front of that boyfriend of his. Even Dianxia always indulged him to the point of he always threw crazy tantrums if Dianxia did not give in to him. What a brat. But Dianxia always gave in to the brat, even when he was in the middle of something urgent, he would gladly drop everything for his Xianxian. That was the extent of his love toward Wei Wuxian.

Then the two cats jumped into Wei Wuxian’s embrace, asking for attention while purring heavily.

“Hey, Ruoye, Chenqing, I miss you guys, have you met my hot boyfriend here? No? Yes?” Wei Wuxian petted both cats and gave them a very tight hug.
