The Adoption
"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Leo leans in and kisses his new bride, Jasmine, careful to keep it short and sweet so that his mind and body don't get the wrong idea in front of all their friends and family.
"Ew, gross!" the five year old flower girl, Phoebe, exclaims very loudly, which of course garners laughter from the attendees. Her mom who happened to also be the Matron of Honor, Meg, reached over and discreetly thumped her on the back of her head. Phoebe turned and glared at her mom.
"Allow me to introduce for the first time ever Mr. and Mrs. Taylor," the preacher continues as if nothing else had happened. Jasmine takes Leo's arm and the two happily make their way down the makeshift aisle that was laid down the middle of their backyard, followed by the members of the bridal party, Cam and Meg, Lance and Leah, and the Flower Girl and Ring Bearer: Phoebe and Noah.
Aunt Wendy ushered all the guests inside to the reception area while pictures were taken under the floral arch. Finally the wedding party and the newlyweds finished up with pictures and joined the party with their friends.
"I can't believe we are now married and you will be signing the adoption papers for Allie in a few weeks. I love you, Leo."
"I love you too. I for one am happy that you know who signed away his rights for Allie. I love both of you very much!"
Just then the opening chords to their song, '
I Knew I Loved You
by Savage Garden came on and they proceeded to the dance floor to have their first dance as husband and wife.
*****3 Weeks Later*****
"Leo it is time to go," Jasmine calls out.
"I know, I know, I am finishing up changing Allie's diaper and then we can go. She had to have a major blowout right now." He then turned to Allie and said, "I bet you are quite proud of yourself aren't you. Mommy is chomping at the bit to go and you release everything you have stored up, huh. You are lucky you are so cute baby girl."
After Allie was clean and fresh, Leo picked her up, gave her a couple quick kisses, put her in her car seat, and buckled her in. He called out, "Ok, Babe, we're ready. I even have her buckled in her seat and I have the diaper bag. Do you have the paper that Corbin signed that we were told to bring with us?"
"Yup got all the paperwork needed. Let's go make you a Daddy officially on paper and change her last name to match ours."
*****2 Hours Later*****
After all the t's were crossed and the i's were dotted, the three of them headed to Krista and Chase's house for a celebration of the adoption being complete. This was only for legality reasons as Leo had always been Allie's dad and had been with her and Jasmine since Jasmine was pregnant with Allie. He had even been at the hospital the night of delivery, but wasn't allowed in the delivery room because he was not the father.
As they walk into the party, Jasmine hears Krista call out, "there's our girl."
"Thanks Krista for hosting this party. Leo and I would like to thank you all for coming to help us celebrate this momentous occasion for Allie. We love you all."
During the party, all the toddlers (Allie, Jay Jay - Leah and Lance's son, Mitch - Amber and Seth's son, Nevaeh - Katie and Jason's daughter, Sienna - Bobby and Sophie's daughter, Noah - Angie and Jacob's son, and Meg and Cam's three youngest - Poppy, Penny, and CJ) all played together in the play area set up in the lawn.
