Work day

As I was running down the empty road, I came across a alleyway. I ran into the alleyway, turning my head left & right trying to find a place to hide. Afterwards, I saw a trash bin.

“It’s a bit small, but I should be able to fit behind it.” I thought.

I got on my knees & hands & started crawling behind the trash bin. Sitting down, I heard footsteps getting closer to the alleyway.

“No use in hiding, Doll. I just want what’s mine!” The masked man blurted.

I quickly covered my mouth, for I couldn’t control my panting. Later, what sounded like a knife, started scraping across the brick wall. I wanted to scream for help in fear, but I knew I would get caught. So I did the only thing left to do.

A FEW DAYS AGO…

I woke up startled by my alarm clock. So startled, I feel out, off the bed, hitting my head on the firm, wood, floor.

“F*ck.” I yelled.

I rubbed my head, trying to soothe the pain. I looked at the clock & the continued to complain.

“I hate waking up so early, especially waking up like shit.” I thought.

I stumbled to the bathroom, looking in the mirror, splashing water in my face. I then started brushing my teeth. A few minutes in, my phone went off. I picked up my phone & read my notification.

“Great, my boss, what more can happen.” I thought.

“Perfect…” I thought.

Finished reading the email, I got dressed & headed out the door. I started walking down this street & saw an alleyway. I saw this group of teenagers harassing a helpless puppy. I couldn’t just let them beat on a poor little puppy, so I did something about it.

“Oi! Get the hell out of here!” I yelled.

The boys then quickly turned around, staring at me. I saw them startled & scared. Latterly, they ran off, jumping behind a wired gate. In the back of the alley. I took a look at the dog & I could tell it was a Yorkie.

“Hey buddy! What’s a button like you in a alleyway like this?” I said, looking at the puppy.

I picked up the puppy & felt it shivering.

“Poor guy, probably hasn’t eaten in days.” I thought.

“Cmon, let’s get you something to eat.” I said, smiling.

I picked him up & started walking by a near pet store. I walked in & started roaming the aisles. Finally, I found a pack of dog food & picked it up.

“This please.” I asked the cashier, putting the bag of dog food on the counter.

He scanned my things & bagged everything up.

“Just so you know, you have an adorable puppy.” The cashier said.

I couldn’t just tell him I stole a random puppy that didn’t belong to me off the street. I had to come up with a believable lie.

“Oh, thanks for noticing! I just got him today at the animal shelter. His name is-“ I paused.

I tried thinking of a name before he got suspicious. Some time after, I thought of a good name.

“His name is Buddy!” I exclaimed.

“That’s a beautiful name for such a beautiful puppy.” The cashier told me.

“Thanks.” I responded.

I took my stuff & walked back into the alleyway. I poured a good amount of dog food infront if Buddy. He then started going crazy at it.

“He must’ve been really hungry” I thought.

I patted the puppy’s head & started walking off. I knew it was mean & heartless to leave a puppy there, but I couldn’t just take him with me. I made my way to the subway & started paying for my ticket.

“Will that be cash or credit?” The worker asked.

“Credit.” I responded.

I started muzzling around in my purse, looking for my phone.

“No, don’t tell me. Damn it!” I thought.

Turns out I left my phone at the pet store. I NEVER leave my phone anywhere, & the day of all days I left it today.

“Sorry, I must’ve left my phone.” I hesitated.

“Oh well. Sorry, can’t let you on.” The worker told me.

I know he was doing his job, but damn, he was heartless. So I just walked out, not going to be able to ride to work. I thought about getting a Taxi for a split second, but realized I had no money with me. So now I just had to walk to work… great. While walking on my way to work, I came across a group of mothers.

“Have you heard about these scams going around?” One of the mothers questioned.

“Heard if it? It’s all I’ve been hearing.” Another mother said.

Then I started to realize I was dead, staring at them.

“Can we help you?” One of the mother’s asked.

Out of embarrassment, I paced away, not saying a word. Then I bumped into someone, slamming into their chest. A didn’t want to move, I was so embarrassed. After a few seconds, I looked up. I gazed into his dreamy, hazel eyes.

I then noticed that he started to blush. I finally looked down & saw what I was doing. I was pushed up a bit to close to his torso, touching his lower waist.

“God! I’m so sorry! I wasn’t looking where I was going &- I was just-.” I stuttered.

“Relax, relax, it’s fine. But, do you think you could move back a bit?” He asked.

I quickly pushed myself off of him, covering my face.
