Chapter 1 - The New Client
I slowly open my eyelids. In the garden, I have been lying on the sunbed for a few hours now. It is Sunday afternoon, and the radio plays jazz music.
My friends had returned and then left once more. I am alone with myself. My mind is kept active and relaxed by the radio music. My phone started ringing repeatedly inside the house. I can identify the caller from the ringtone. Even though I’m annoyed that my employer calls me on the weekend, I get up and take the call.
As I take the phone call, I answer it. What can I do to assist you on the weekend, Max?
Being aware that he phoned me over the weekend, I can hear his soft voice as he speaks to me on the phone. For doing this, I dislike him. He then explained why he had called to inform me of the new client.
He asked me to come to the office today to meet the newly acquired client. My feelings about working on the weekend became conflicted. I said I would arrive in an hour.
I hastily dressed for a formal occasion after getting ready. I was dressed in a black miniskirt, white top, and dark blue kitten heels. After I contacted a taxi service, a vehicle was waiting outside for me shortly thereafter.
I locked up my house and got into the taxi. Inside the taxi cab, the driver was an older-looking man who spoke politely.
He asked me where I was heading. And I provided him with the company address. We had a short chat while he drove the taxi.
I sat there watching the buildings and people passing by. Most of the city has undergone significant changes in the last few years. Several high-rise office buildings that were so tall soared into the clouds. The style of how people dressed changed so much.
