Chapter 1

I come downstairs to see my brother, Alish, talking with The Devil. Yep. That’s right. The one and only devil.
Great, he's back.
I pull on my hoodie, plaster a fake smile and plop down next to my mum on the opposite sofa where Alish and the devil was sitting.
Inder and Alish became friends since high school and never been apart. Of course, they took the pleasure of making fun of me and all the stuff that big brothers and sisters do. I mean kind of. Since Alish and I got older we stopped the fights and arguments but till this day Alish has tried to stop the bicker between Inder and me.
‘Mia, I see you have grown on some weight Alish stop buying her ice creams after her breakups!’
Ugh! He’s only saying it because I haven’t gone on a date let alone have a boyfriend and breakup with him.
The boys start laughing. My mum looks up from her book and smiles, ‘Mia remember what I have told you about our family legacy,’ she puts down her book and turns serious eyes towards me, ‘Every woman in our family must get married before 31 or they are doomed for getting married.’
‘Mum, I know but I’m really nervous about you know,’ I fidget with the hem of my hoodie not wanting to say anything in front of the boys.
Just then my dad walks in and sits next to me. He puts an arm around my shoulder, ‘Oh Maria! Leave her be, let her enjoy her high school life and then worry about getting her settled down,’ I turn towards my dad he winks and I smile.
He gets up and smiles, ‘Come on kids I made my special breakfast bap!’
I get up and walk towards the dining room. After setting up the table I go get the plates only to come back to see the only remaining seat is between Alish and The Devil. He sends me a smile, 'See Mia, I knew you just couldn't resist me,' he says cockily.
I roll my eyes sitting down and sigh... It’s going to be a long day.
