A Sky Full of Color
The sun sets as the sky bleeds into a gentle pink. The wind blows, sending the sweet smell of freshly bloomed flowers wafting over the field. Two boys lay on a blanket atop a hill. They feel safe, at peace. The wind blows again sending their hair into their eyes, laughter radiates from the boys when this happens. As one of them fixes their hair the other stares into his eyes, taking in their beauty and getting lost in it. They stay like that for what feels like hours but is only a matter of moments, before looking back at the sky of colors. The boys lace their fingers together and savor the moment, for they aren’t sure they will ever get one like it again. When the day fell into night the boys turned to look at each other once more. Neither one of them were ready to leave, nor did they have anywhere to go. All they had was each other, but that was perfect enough for them. They leaned their foreheads together and smiled at each other. Even without a word spoken so much passion was shared between them. They cherished each other, they knew their love was a gift and they treated it as such. One boy pressed a gentle kiss to the others lips, treating him as if he was fragile. They wrapped themselves around each other and let the flamey passion inside them escape and turn into whispers, touches, kisses, breathes. They got lost in each other and everything else disappeared. They abandoned the hate of the world and lived in one all their own. One filled with love and a sky full of color.
“If only a moment like that could last..” The lovely world fell away to something new, something darker, filled with an empty loneliness. The sky is no longer filled with bright colors, only a cloudy gray that mocks you and those good days. A man that resembles an older version of one of the boys from the other world sits beside a grave stone. It seems as though he has been crying, eyes rimmed with red and a far away look in his eyes. He speaks softly though no one is around to hear him “you were my sun filled days, my navy coated nights, my sky full of color....” His voice was gentle and filled with emotion. “You will forever be my prince of the sky..."

This was incredibly immersive, it felt like a movie playing in my head.
I kept imagining it as a visual story, especially in a comic format.
I work with visual storytelling myself, and this piece really inspired me.
I’d love to chat more about it sometime if you’re open to that.
